To answer your question, my 'nerd' habits actually get me paid over 10 dollars an hour fixing and building computers, and people are grateful for my services. I'm one of the most popular people on my floor.
    Ten dollars an hour?

I think it's rather good when you consider that I'm technically a self-employed college student doing odd jobs for people. I have no official degrees and my college-hired counterparts are making 7.50 an hour.

Considering the alternatives, I think I'm doing rather well.

Arch0wl-This is well and good, but still, you're attempting to change the nature of the lamer. You essentially are thinking that you are just as powerful as those strong loves and desires you cited earlier.
        ...
Not like I'm any less guilty of this whole thing. Here I am, admittedly trying to do the same thing. The way I justified it for myself is that at least I'm being arrogant to help people instead of hurt them. It's not the best logic, but it lets me live with myself.

          Seven fifty???

          Ouch.

Since you are in college...what are you majoring in?

Cause if it isn't physics and is a science, they pay you 20k a year to go to grad school in like...alot of places.

Or maby it is a 20k scholarship. I forget.

I'm a Computer Science major, but I'm white middle class male. (read: I get fucked out of scholarships.)

Sure, my dad makes 70K a year (give or take), but nobody seems to care that we were looking after my mother, who was fighting inflammatory breast cancer, until two months, 12 days, and 9 hours ago (she died). We're too 'rich' to get any money, but we're also not well off enough for me to go to college and allow my dad to comfortably look after my little sister.

Yes, I'm mad as fire about this. No, I do not care what you think about it. The first person to rationalize that other races are at a base disadvantage in a white man's world or some bull like that will regret it, I swear.

Tell me: What can change the nature of a man?
youve read plato. i'm impressed. if you really want to get into the "advantage of the stronger/lamer" thing, i wouldnt suggest it. neither of you are acting as one of the "philosopher kings" in this situation... more like tyrants. the stronger would be looking out for the lamer.

as for the intelligence of your argument, regardless of how intelligent it is, someone is goin to argue with you. Arch is the last person you want to get into an argument with.

as far as scholarships go, i'm gettin a majority of my education paid for and i am a middle class white male.

                  good day.

                      Here's a once-over of my credentials:

                      3.6 GPA
                      29 ACT
                      1360 SAT
                      National Merit Society Commended Scholar
                      500 Community Service Hours

I could go on, but those are the salient points. I can also spout BS about my 'ethnic experiences' because of the places I've been to.

I have loans. That's it. You cannot tell me that this is fair when one of my Hispanic classmates with a 2.6 GPA (and respective test scores) got a full ride from independant scholarships.

Affirmative action is so wrong, it's not funny.

"WE NEED TO HAVE SO MANY HISPANICS GO TO OUR SCHOOL OR ELSE WE WILL BE SUED BY SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS!"

That's basically what it boils down to.

Lol. When I was 12 I got like...1210. Cause I got a frameshift (okay...I didn't get a frameshift, I just fucked up Reading Comprehension. A few of my friends got scores like yours though--also 12 year olds.)

I assume you're aware that the SAT is, by nature, an aptitude test that measures your ability to think, as opposed to a scholarship test that measures what you know. I also took the SAT at 12 and scored a 1310 (or so. It's been a while and I don't remember very clearly). Unless you take SAT prep classes, your score from 16/17 as opposed to 12 generally only increases 50-100 points or so.
