I just love how they can sound so completely biased while still being "neutral".
Also, I heard quite a few flat out lies.

Re: Video games = drugs?
Too bad video games cause people to interact more with each other. The problem with this report is that the people complaining about video games had nothing similar exposed to them when they were kids, so they don't really know anything about it except the thought that all they do is brainwash their kids into not doing their homework.Last edited by Pumble; 02-27-2006, 05:28 PM.Comment

Re: Video games = drugs?
Hey, that's a lie. I do my homework while still playing the games. Does that count?
EDIT: The one thing I noticed about playing games, is that my grades slipped in the 5th and 6th grade. Nothing big. Just A's to B's. But then I kept playing. And they got worse. When spring came around, and I didn't need to play them my grades went back up. I was obsessed with the FF series then and I would play them for 6 hours a day. And I beat FFIX like 100hours into the game. Video games can have some effects.Last edited by FluorescentArmy; 02-28-2006, 06:58 AM.

Re: Video games = drugs?
Generally, maybe it is not the games. It is natural for grades to start sliping when you go into jr high. I mean, I have never studied in the last 7 years and I have made the honor roll the first six weeks of school for my senior year. The rest is the common A,B,C roll. But I always did maintain that average grade. Only did fail 7th grade once, but that was when the N64 was just starting to get to its peak. Can anyone say Puberty. Now, that point cleared, I would like to get to the link up there. All this crap about how games are bad for you is all 2nd guesture and full of crap. Ya, really. Come on, not like that mother ever had sex. Stupid hypocrits. (sp) Honestly, they need to freaking get rid of the rating systems. They do no good.Comment

I learned to read from Vandal Hearts II. I used to watch my dad play it everyday.

Re: Video games = drugs?
I learned to read by playing old SNES RPGs like Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, Lufia 2, FF6, etc. I played my first RPGs when I was 5 years old, in Kindergarten, when most other kids were just learning the alphabet. By 1st grade, I had a college level reading/comprehension level; this is largely due to the fact that I learned to read from RPGs with complex scripts.
In other words, playing games is the single greatest education I've had.Comment

Man how true. When you get into games, you can't get out. I remember my first game. Little 2D sprites running along, it seemed so innocent. But then I needed a bigger and better fix. I graduated to blocky polygons and then normal mapping. I stole car radios and mugged old ladys just to turn around and run to EB to get some more games. Sometimes I even deal my old stuff to other kids looking for a fix. Now I'm in Game Addicts Anonymous. (GAA!!! for short) I'm trying to get my life turned around. Sure, it is always a temptation. Seeing kids walking down the street playing their PSPs and DSs, I break out in a cold sweat. But I have held out and the treatment seems to be working. He who angers you conquers you. ~Elizabeth KennyComment
