This topic is retarded. You're completely retarded for making it. This is the worst idea I've ever heard. This is a site about a free flash game. The forums are there for people who want to use them. Invitations would not only make no sense, but would be monumentally and fundamentally pointless.

Why are you trying to act like a martyr? Trying to make up an exclusive idea that would exclude you doesn't make you cool. New people are the future of FFR Forums. If we don't let any newcomers in how will we ever know if they are valuable or not?

We can't disallow new members, but they get filtered out anyway.

We know how to make people who wouldn't contribute anyway leave without using a bannination. We've been doing it for a long time. Not very many people make it through--Falconsfan is one of the few.

The problem is the context of this forum and the people it attracts. A lot of the people it attracts are people that are lame, and some of the people it attracts are cool. It's...It's like if there was an Insane Clown Posse forum, it would attract a bunch of idiots. But if there was a Flashbulb Forum, I think 95% of the people it would attract woudl be in their own league of musical understanding; smart people.

This is a Flash Flash Revolution forum. As such, we attract kiddies that play this game because it's kiddie-safe to play (or they like playing DDR), and we attract people that are more mature than kiddies and appreciate the game's intelligent design and/or generally share liking for the main genre of FFR's music.

Invitation only? That would suck. For example, I consider myself a good contributor to the forums (could be a good contributor to the site, but that'll happen later if anything). Absolutely none of my friends/aquaintances knew about this site before I did, and if I had come to this site and it was invitation-only, there'd be no way I'd go through the effort of finding someone who would give me the privledge of checking out how it is. Hence, I would not be here. In fact, I think 80% of forum-goers would not be here.

Sort of brings it into perspective.

I don't know. I remember being new, but I guess I never really got shunned... so no sap story here.

If they don't want to get made fun of, then they shouldn't get on forums and make asses of themselves.

Think about your idea, and apply it to the past. I'm sure plenty of the greats that we have here today caught shit when they first joined, but we wouldn't have them, had we used your idea then.

I know that you came into this thread with the best of intentions, and hopes that your suggestion would better FFR, but the only thing that's ever going to better FFR, are the people. There's bound to be more great people out there, who start out as "n00bs" ... It's a forums board. What can you do?

I suppose that would make sense, but what if the newbies take over FFR? I'm not saying I want there to be no newbies. I'm just saying if the site doesn't like most new members it can hold off on some of the stuff.

Squeek, I'll pull through just like Falcons Fan. You'll see.

                    Some of the stuff?

Unfortunately I don't see there being a way to weed out specifics, especially on the internet.

I understand what you're trying to say, but I must admit I don't find it very logical.

This is the internet, there are going to be people that we don't like, everyone on here. It's kinda lke communism, it would be a good idea, if it could be applied nicely, but that, just like this, is impossible.

Hang in there. Be open, and honest, and don't get down, when people on forums boards don't approve of you. If the "N00bs" stopped giving a shit what everyone else on the internet thought, then they might make it.

I don't have a problem with anyone, until they create a problem for themselves, and there are enough people on this forums board that think that way, that will ensure that "Noobs" will NEVER have even the slightest idea of running this forums board.

If people are really here to post, and want to be here, than they'll be fine, and they'll hang it out, and if they don't, than we don't need them here anyways.

They can't take over because by the time they're in the ruling class, they're no longer newbies.

Hmm, guys, I'm pretty sure he was using sarcasm to prove a point (that's referring to the post when he made the thread). Some of you guys are boosting my IQ by your seriousness to the literal message of this thread.

Anyway, it's a funny thing about noobs. I'll just take a part of a post I made somewhere else where I was debating flaming.

Flaming is really the only way to grasp attention in many cases. People don't give a rat's ass about what you say, so what do you do? Flame! That's why I don't have to flame when debating--people do listen, else they don't deserve to be debating and are probably lousy at it.

                        ... ... ...

But there's the thing--when you flame, they're more likely to leave then change, and when you tell them nicely, it doesn't work. It's a no win situation, and it will only change when they realise they're acting dumb.
Well, it's not 100% true, some people will realise they're being stupid and will change after a nice flaming, but for the most part, they'll just move on like the idiots they are (i.e. the people with 20 posts who have locked topics in Chit Chat and Media).

I pointed that out in one of the first posts in this thread. The reason people took it literally is because Lightknight's post seemed borderline serious. In other news, other people being stupid can't boost your IQ, just your ego.

The flaw with this arguement is that regulars don't flame newbies to get attention. They do it because they're sick of the newbs not being able to adapt. For instance, if someone posts a thread that is extremely obviously in the wrong forum and I make a post like ^________^ or something, it's not because I want them to look at me. It's because I can't stand the fact that they're so inept, and I feel like being mean to them. It's honestly no deeper than that.

It's true, they are more likely to leave than change when they are flamed. However, if telling them nicely won't do the trick, then flaming is your only shot left. If nothing you can do will change them, then them leaving is pretty much what you want at that point.

That's a valid point. However, there's nothing to be done about it. When all else fails, banning is the way to go.

Well, I said that again because obviously people were still taking it serious, despite what you said on the first page.

And although most don't flame to get attention, it works for getting attention much better than being calm does.

I don't remember your very very first posts, but you weren't bad when I noticed you (I usually notice people at around 200 posts, maybe less if they're intresting posters).
