    cancerous brain tumor

My mom got one removed today. But she has aonther tiny one. Also, the tumor sent out tendrils through her brain, so there is cancerous tissue everywhere. It's probably going to kill her within a few years, if not sooner.

    It's pretty bad.

What do you guys think? Well, actually, what do you guys know? Tell me about cancerous brain tumors.

    My God.

I don't know what to say except may the best come of it that can. My mother has MS and there's a constant threat that she'll just die any particular minute of the day, but it's not really like that.

    Man. All my sympathies.

        @_@

That's really scary... how old is she? You never know, she may live beyond what the doctors say... it seems to happen that way often as long as the patient keeps up an optimistic spirit.

My uncle also had an extremely dangerous cancerous brain tumor removed. It was apparently one in only about 50 documented cases of its type, and the surgery was very risky. Luckily, he made it through, but he lost the use of one of his eyes in the process.

Do you know how fast-growing the tumor was? Some brain tumors develop very slowly... that one could have been there for many years before it was detected and removed. If that's the case, she could be okay for quite a long time. I don't know about the tendril thing (sounds terrifying though x_x), but hopefully they won't grow very quickly...

Good luck to her as well as to you and your whole family. It's scary enough when it's your cool uncle, but when it's your own mom, I can't even imagine.

You guys don't need to say sorry or whatever. I'm cool with my mom's situation. Well, not cool like "my mom has cancer lol awesome" but more like I can accept it. I just wanna know more about her situation. There are some smart kids on here and I'd like to know what they know.

EDIT: jamuko: She just turned 55. I have no idea how long it has been there, but about 2 weeks ago, she thought she had a fever. She stuck it out and finally went to see a doctor. They then told her she had a stroke. Going back a 3rd time and doing more in depth tests, it was revealed that she had 2 tumors. One fairly large and the other very small. I just found out today (after the surgery) that it was a cancerous tumor.

The thing that sucks about it the most to me is that my father has already died, so I may be without parents at a fairly young age.

            Geez...

Was it the doctor who assessed how long she had to live, or is that speculation?

My uncle found out about his because he noticed some numbness and twitching in his face, and eventually decided to get it checked out. I've forgotten what they originally thought it was, but it's a good thing they figured it out, because he would have died if they had left it untreated.

Hopefully your mom's is similar and slow-growing, and shouldn't be too bad now that the worst part was removed.

              hey Varia-

My mom had her 2nd brain tumor removed a few months back, so I can whole heartedly relate to what your saying. I'm not really savvy on cancerous brain tumors, but normal brain tumors I do know a little about; first is finding out what kind it is (cancerous for example), where it's located (my moms was inbetween the two lobes jus chillin' on an artery), also because of where it was, she would have ... mini sezures for lack of a better explanation. episodes where she couldn't talk, tactile senses would basically over load (Imagine rolling in wood chips naked for 10 minutes) and vary bad casses of vertigo (even when sitting on the floor) after you know what to expect, then theres knowing what it's doing -aggressive growth, malignant etc. Her first one was vary slow growing, so notion really radical had to be done. and finally theres treatment. surgery is usually what people choose. more often than not the doctor can remove all of the tumor, but in some casses like my moms, the remnance were still afixed to an artery, and thus attempting to remove it might result in the severing of a rather important section of anotomy. Another option in radiation. Now you have many differant kinds to choose from. The doctors we spoke with recomended Gama Knife, as it is vary acurate, and is far less damaging to to the rest of your body. If your moms is small, or the infected areas are small, I would look into or ask your doctors if this is an aption. Last but not least, there kemotharapy, basically you poison your body in hopes the canser dies before you do. I'm not a fan of this but it does work. but all in all, just be prepaired; learn how to reconize a sezure, what to do if one should happen, have family on speed dial, but I think the most important thing is, tell her you love her every day, with that I'm out, I'm shit tired so I appolagize for any spelling errors and such, hope you got something usful out of that mess. -Tek

Geez, man, my sympathies to you. I don't know a lot about brain tumors beyond what Tek just said, but I wish you and your mom the best of luck.

The closest experience I have to this is that my dad had prostate cancer, but that doesn't really compare.

So, other than that our mom thought she had a fever for about 2 weeks, is there any real indication of how long the tumors had been there? I just hope they're the slow-growing kind, and that all of the treatments go well.

Moogy that was acting like an asshole. His mother is fucking sick for crying out loud. Well anyways..

My grandmother has been fighting cancer for 3 years. She has finallly given up I suspect. She recently, 2 days ago, had a massive blood clot in her left thigh. It was almost golf ball size according to the doctor. They removed it, but she cant move now. And the asshole of a doctor left the hole where they stick the tube in to suck the clot out open. Now it is all infected and she always needs new pads on it as it is constantly leaking shit. Its pretty bad. I've knew this was going to happen for a while now, but I never thought she would die in so much pain. Man I know but jeez. It is sort of her fault. She drank her entire life practically. My aunt had her stomach lining removed from drinking.
