Not like nobody else has said this already, but that is really awesome. It must be great to surprise people with it.
If you do, can I come? :OOriginally posted by MrESqueekI honestly think I'm just going to assemble my own computer when I get a new one.
I'd kind of like to do something like this too, but not so ambitious (unless I'm not alone). >.> Best I've done is make a tilt-activated voice box for a goat plushie (if Squeek ever mentioned that
), but that wasn't so risky cost-wise.
I've found that this kind of thing can give you some weird problems, though. It's kind of hard to troubleshoot electronics when nothing appears to be wrong, since you can't see the flow of electricity. I had some bizarre problems with that while making the goat... I still have no idea why it acted the way it did.
PS - Solder is so much fun.♪~

Soldering is a damn pain. Or rather, soldering is a damn pain when you have to use broken, rusted, POS soldering irons that they give you in Integrated Technology.Originally posted by jamukoPS - Solder is so much fun.
Anyway, not as though this hasn't been said enough, but: That is beyond awesome.Comment

I kinda did something similar on the Monday of Thansgiving Week. Replaced a friend's Motherboard and Power Supply (he managed to blow out both of them), which meant re-placing the heatsink, processor, etc. It was a fun experience until he bent one pin on the processor. If that pin broke, -$300.Originally posted by jamukoIf you do, can I come? :OOriginally posted by MrESqueekI honestly think I'm just going to assemble my own computer when I get a new one.

The only thing we have to say about the whole matter is this: Thermal Grease.

Soldering has its ups and downs, but it is the solder itself I was referring to in my declaration of its amazing fun level. Take a bunch of it and just make it melt... then watch it solidify... then melt it again... then solidify it again...!!Originally posted by TokzicSoldering is a damn pain. I mean... what I meant to say was... I was on task the whole time, honest!
>.>
edit@skeek - How did he blow them out, anyway? >.>
And ew... grease. I had a bad experience with the stuff myself, involving a sewing machine.♪~

I was thinking about that, I could use the money to buy presents for other people. With my luck though, the system would start falling apart as soon as I pack it.Originally posted by MrGigglesPeople would pay through their ass. I would.Originally posted by Sol_SolisSell it on ebay?

No, seriously, I wonder if people would bid high for that.
Took a bunch of work and time to make this.. I should be done with this already ):/Comment

awesome thanks 2 u.
but uh.. uh.. yeah.. now what do I do? Any new project ideas? ¬¸¬
Oh, and for glueing it shut.. there's really no need to. The inards are safe enough. Especially considering I was carrying the motherboard all around and even had it next to me while I was dremmeling all this crap. Built pretty solid.. I even soldered a few points on the motherboard already so I can upgrade the bios to pass the cd/dvd drive check. I figure anything that's going to break is going to break by being dropped or thrown or something similar.Comment

NES in an XBox shell?
Actually, something cool you could do is rip a system apart while keeping everything connected and attaching it to a TV, then adding to the shell so that it's like the TV has the system in it. Or even putting the system -inside- the TV. That'd be cool.Comment

I heard one guy built an xbox, gamecube, and ps2 right into his computer. You could try that =)Originally posted by Kenzyabut uh.. uh.. yeah.. now what do I do?
