    Unsuspected Victory

So yea...I went to this awesome marching competition this weekend. Bands of America Super Regionals in Atlanta, GA.

Around 34 bands competing for a spot in finals. And 14 get a spot...My band was one of them...

So we all get ready to perform after eating a dinner and having our instructors talk to us about the preliminaries...

Then we all grab the props and what not and go out and try to have the best performance ever...

Not too many people thought we did good in the band, except for maybe me and a handful of others...So we were in the stands watching all the other bands perform and what-not, and we watch Lafette(sp?) perform...They are one of the top 5 bands in the nation...Along with Tarpon Springs, FL(my band ^o^)...So we thought they were going to win and all.

So we go to the awards ceremony, and they start going down the list saying what awards were won...Most outstanding music...Lafette....Most outstanding visual performance...It's a Tie! Tarpon Springs and Lafette!...And most outstanding general effect....Tarpon Springs!!! So we where all freaking out mentaly and all(not allowed to show emotion if we win or not =\)...So they get to second placement....So it's basically annoucer dude going...And in 2nd place with a score of 91.x5(long over dramatic pause)(everyone in my band freaking out)...Lafette!!

You could've felt all the relief, awe, amazement, and shock in the nose bleed sections of the Georgia dome...Once we broke ranks it was like freaking crazy everyone in Tarpon just glomped the person next to each other...

That was probably the most exciting thing that has ever happened to me...And this week we are going for Grand Nationals in Indianapolis(sp?)

And incase you want to know our score, it was 92.85/100....Highest score in the nation this year so far.

What instrument do you play? Are there designated baton twirlers? Do you wear funky hats? Are you sure the competition is called "Bands of America Super Regionals?" You guys don't get to go to Disney?

    That is all.

I play mellophone. What do you mean baton twirlers? Colour Guard? The competition is called BOA Super Regionals...BOA standing for Bands of America. No we don't get to go to Disney sadly enough =(.

Well, Frank Sullivan, our music writer(Also from Blast! ^o^) gave us a computer version of our show...So it's nothing like hearing the ACTUAL perfomance...Once I get my Atlanta or Indy's final movie I could upload the performance as well...I'm uploading the music as we speak so, once it's done I'll post it.

@Nate=Yep. It was originally in the marching show. I just pulled it off the cd lol. I love that song....It's also the most fun song we have in the show...Hard patterns and what not...It's basically like playing Quasar one handed with the mellophone fingerings. Still, very fun to play.
@Arthur=It's a marching french horn. Looks like this...It's mine, except mine isn't silver...It's brass/gold with the lacour coming off.

LOL at comparing playing in the band to playing SM. XD

                      Nice job bumping off Lafayette.

http://rockwallband.com We are playing the incredibles.

The Glory Days, Life's Incredible Again, Bob vs. The Omnidroid, Saving Metroville, and The Incredits- some of the pieces are pretty chopped compared to the album versions, but it's all good. Life's Incredible Again is a swing piece .
