I don't think I would say all anime is crap, but about 95% of it is. It isn't just hte dubbing, it's the dialogue. Like I was watching this show called Inumushya (not the title, but pretty close) and it was about these two demons who get into this sword fight 'cause one of them's trying to protect a human. A neat idea, except...

It was loaded with the trademark crap. You know what I'm talking about- main heroes who are loaded up with cliches from a late forties detective story ("Save him" "I believe in you!") and stupid supporting characters who look like social rejects and state the complete obvious 24/7. Also don't forget the little talking firefly that bounces around everywhere. Let me ask a serious question:

This is an anime about hell, swords and demons. WHY DO THEY HAVE TO MAKE IT PG?

I could do better myself...In fact, I am. I started writing another story similar- about an arch-demon that falls in love with a human girl on a raid. Except it's...I dunno, what's the word I'm looking for...oh yeah, not a piece of shit.

The dubbing makes it PG...
And I do get annoyed at how they state the obvious.
But get some subs, much better.
The US Inuyasha is cut, I dont think they made an uncut English one at all actualy.

Cut? Damn...I knew something was up when they showed it on YTV. (Christ, why do I even bother to watch the anime there?)

They did the same thing with Escaflowne- a terrific anime, despite the usual North American "Let's fuck the hell out of this anime and market it to five year olds" traditional chopping block. On the DVD, though, it was PG-13. WTF? Ah...c'mon. Syndicated US shows like Family Guy or Futurama get half-decent voice acting- don't animes deserve the same?

They didn't dub Gundam Wing too badly. Except that the voices were nothing like the originals. Scott McNeil made Duo's voice far too low for the 15-year old he is. And they still showed it on YTV and they kept all tht cussing. Made it PG-13, they did. But I really don't get hoe they could possibly mutilate InuYasha like that. Granted, the whole "Sit, boy." = InuYasha faceplant bit is very amusing.

I heard they were going to dub GetBackers... Ohh man I hope they don't mess up that one. They had to put that one to the chopping block when they made a series from the manga in Japan! I hate to see what might happen to that show when it gets dubbed. Just be glad the homophobes in the TV industry are NEVER going to do Gravitaion...

I'm not really a big fan of the "big three" in anime (Evangelion, Gundam Wing and DBZ. That list could be argued, but those are the most popular). I don't know why...maybe it's just the deep feeling that if people put some trust into original ideas, and didn't whore the hell out of them (why some series go past thirty episdoes I'll never know- do we really need 300+ episdoes of Sailor Moon? What a waste...) then the industry could be a whole lot better. Those three should be considered average...something else should be up there....something really good. I don't know if anime will ever get that killer show.

the worst dubbed has to be LOVE HINA. It hurst my ears watching it in the dubbed version. The voices do not compare even a little. XP But I good one I have seen is, GK21. it is not the best, but it is the best I have seen.

you may be right in that most american dubs are crap, but there are some that are actually really good. Have you ever watched the slayers next/try dubbed? its on par with the subbed (i've seen both).

plus, you've obviously NEVER seen trigun! that dubbing is perhaps the best dubbing ever, and its a lot better than the subbed version, which sux! ask anyone with an unbiased opinion and they'll tell you the same thing

Gundam Wing was 49 episodes. So is GetBackers, which is a great show by the way and is only in subbed version at the moment. I hope they don't decide to change Kadsuki into a girl if they dub it... He looks like a girl but he's definitely a guy.

I personally can't stand DBZ. Even when I watched it in chinese (Yes, I could understand it) it sucked. My friends and I call it Drag On Ball. It really is pointless if 5 minutes time in the show takes 3 weeks of episodes to go through (reference to when Freiza blew up Namek, it was supposed be destroyed 5 minutes after he shot it, but it took 3 weeks to actually blow up). There's a fine line between suspense and annoying the crap out of your audience by blowing time all out of proportion. Gundam Wing, on the other hand, is more fight less talk. Much better in my opinion.

ROFL....there was a dubbed Love Hina? Oh, God, please don't ever let me watch it...it would ruin the whole thing for me forever. But I do like talk...like it more than fight really, when it's meaningful.

Except it never is. Who gets paid to write this crap anyway?
