Well, no, I can't prove that it's Guido's fault.
About a month after I got my computer, Guido tried to run AIM and discovered that it would not open. It showed up in the list of running processes, and when the computer shut down, a "Please wait, ending program" message would appear, but AIM would not actually appear on the desktop. The conclusion was that something was conflicting with AIM and preventing it from opening. I ran my computer in safe mode, removed a program I guessed was conflicting, and everything was fine.
Occasionally it would happen again. AIM just would not open. I'd run the computer in safe mode, open AIM there, and then everything would appear to be fine.
Last time Guido was here, AIM stopped working again. Running things in safe mode didn't help. Updating my spyware protector things and running them in normal and safe modes didn't help. I gave in and took my computer to Best Buy to enlist the help of the Geek Squad. My Geek looked things over, ran his little analysis, and determined that my computer is infested with spyware and my spyware-blockers are apparently not doing the job. Bottom line: if I pay $150, they'll clean up my registry and MAYBE AIM will work again.
Not wanting to pay that much money to have them do something I could probably do on my own, I said I'd bring the computer home, try to fix things tonight, and bring it back if nothing works.
Nothing has worked. Tomorrow I'm going to have to send my computer off for I don't know how long to clean its shit up. Sadface.
So, yeah, not that I come around very often anyway, but my computer access is going to be limited to breaks between classes in the Student Union for a while. Unless someone can think of something I or banditcom have not thought of.
