Although...The topic of an epidemic is important. If we are to combat a virus that has never been seen before, it will prove troublesome to supress. It seems that we are scrambling around to try to be ready for the Avian Flu.

I know. I was hoping that the title was a joke, something that the first poster did only to grab attention, and nothing else.

I propose that in ths thread, we ignore the title, and instead discuss the Avain Flu only.

In the article, we read that the U.S. government is planning to stockpile a hundred million dollars worth of experimental vaccine. How will the U.S. deal with it if the disease were to hit our shores?
In my opinion, if that were to happen, the governemnt would eliminate all chicken shipments...

Yeah what if the strains are different or something and it turns out our vaccine doesnt work? Big problem.

As for Bush bombing Asia, i dont think so. Although some people would joke about him doing just that, he's not that stupid and/or crazy.

The fear is that the virus will mutate into a strain that transmits from human to human. Stopping chicken shipments has nothing to do with it.

This looks like yet another thing for media to whine about for a year.

What they failed to mention was that it kills less people per year than the flu, and that the people that it tends to infect are eighty and can't even resist the cold without a huge risk of dying.
