So, do you see lots of cricket on TV? I keep wishing I could see more soccer games(the only games I see are on Saturday one featuring the New England Revolution). I have to resort to Telemundo or some other random Spanish channel to watch some good games.

Anaheim Angels had an incredible record going, yet not they are playing so terrible that I am not sure if they will make it. They would sweep a great team, to turn around and get swept by a horrible team.

They are playing Detroit tonight, and they HAVE to win this game, because with how things are going, another loss will be really bad.

New York, Cleveland, Boston all won (All in 1 run games =o)

Braves won
Phillies pummeled florida 10-2
Houston rolls 7-0

Washington is beating the padres 2-0
LA is losing to detroit 1-0 (its still early though)

basically all the good teams rolled through except the Marlins and White Sox

White Sox slip ground to Cleveland in AL central, but other than that its a deadlock
Phillies and Houston (and maybe Washington) gain on florida in the NL wildcard

NL west is a shithole as usual <_<

PS Texas got another homerun in the ninth to tie it 6-6 from M. DeRosa

Both the angels and the padres pulled something out of their butt to win their games against Detroit and Washington

Angels got 3 in the 8th to win 3-1
Padres got 5 in the bot9th and 3 in the bottom 12th to win 8-5

I'm really upset over the White Sox. I'd been pulling for them, win or lose, for season upon season. Finally, they get it going in the beginning of this season, only to screw it all up in the last month, like they always do. Still, Cleveland and Chicago will most likely both get spots in the playoffs. I only fear who the Sox play for the first playoff round.

Honestly, after the Phils scored TEN RUNS on the Marlins (3 off of Willis) in the top of the 9th inning (last ups) from trailing 2-0 when Willis had a 3 hitter and 0 walks thru 8... it is the downfall of the Marlins. That kind of a let down (4 errors, plus 2 questionable bloop singles to short center that could have been errors also) is extremely hardful to team morale late in a season.

There are 13-15 games left in the season, the Phils are now on a tear (6 wins in the last 7 games, against ATL and FL)... we go back against ATL again after today's game. If we take 2 of 3 in ATL, I can't see the Phils NOT being right with the Astros at the end of the season. The only problem is, the Astros have a fairly weak final set of games, with 7 (I believe) against the Cubs. So, I could see the Phils going 10-4 and STILL not catching the Astros, who are currently .5 games ahead. Florida is 2.5 back of Houston.

Alot of this is contingent on the Phils sweeping the Fish today, keeping us within .5 of the Astros at worst, throwing the Fish 3+ back of both Phils and Astros. If the Fish win, it could destroy the chances of both NL East teams. Astros win, they would be 1.5 up on the Phils, 2.5 on the Fish.


PS - I could care less about the AL. And, the NL West is so bad that they shouldn't even get a team in the playoffs. The top 2 wild card teams should make it in if nobody in the west finishes with a .500 record.

The popular theory is that the astros are going to win the wild card because the marlins and phillies are gonna knock each other off, so unless philly rips out the marlins completely, its the astros to lose. Most of their teams are sub 500 or relatively bad

Its weird, I'm really not sure what to say, its a 4 man race for 3 spots, between the White Sox, Red Sox, Yankees, and Cleveland

I believe that either Cleveland or Yankees are gonna be left out, I'm leaning towards the yankees going out because Cleveland gets to play the Royals (worst team evar) a few more times.

I think the White Sox should be able to hold their position relatively well at least.

NL West is two team race, and I like Oakland's chances over LA Angels of Anaheim (WTF did they do to their name !?)

Today, a key series between the Indians and White Sox begins for the AL Central
if the Indians take 2/3, then things are looking down for the white sox. Their once 15 game lead is now down to 3.5.

Florida Marlins rolled over philly yesterday 14-6 so the wild card is now back in the hands of the Astros. Marlins and Phillies are done playing each other for the year, so now, with no more head to heads between the wild card teams, its going to be who can execute the best.

who have an EASY schedule ahead of them
they just need to convert

Red Sox are losing to the Devil Rays 7-4 in the 7th(ugh)
Yankees are in a 8th inning tie (2-2) with the Orioles
sox are up 1.5 games currently

Cleveland is up 4-0 on White Sox
if they lose this, then the white sox are in some trouble, because they've been losing games left and right
Houston is getting served 7-0, in the ninth

so I guess maybe houston will blow games to teams like pittsburg <_<
Perhaps the NL East still stands a chance at the wild card (phillies/marlins)

Phils only 1 game back of the Astros.

Hans and I were discussing the possiblities of the Phils catching the Braves. They are only 5 games back. The two teams start a 3 game series Tues night, and ATL plays at least 3 games with FLA, if not 6. There is definately a slim shot of the Phils to make a run for the East, not just the WC.

I personally, as good as the phillies are, don't think they stand a chance in the NL east. Atlanta is just too good. They're loaded with experienced vets along with great young guys (Francoer is crazy). I just don't see the phillies sweeping the Braves. If they don't sweep the braves in that series, I really don't see it happening.

The AL East and Central are two slim races
The Indians are on fire, and the White Sox have been slipping. Their lead is down to 2.5
Indians are also leading the wild card. I really believe that the Indians are a lock for the playoffs (IMO). They are on fire, catching up to the white sox, and have a good lead in the AL Wild Card.

I think that the other two (not counting AL west) would be either redsox+yankees or white sox + redsox/yankees. I'm rooting for Boston, but everything is really tight in the AL, only 3/4 teams can make it. (2/3 if Indians are a lock).

Unless Florida does something soon, quick, I think they might be out. But then again, the phills seemed out last week and they went on fire.
This year is exciting. There aren't any real blow outs anywhere (except cardinals in the NL cent.)
except NL west sucks, so I guess their race isn't important <_<

All the games are just starting out today, so things may be different in a few hours =-o
