    The NCAA Football Thread

College football just started back up. Who else here watches it, and what's your favorite team?

Mine's the University of Michigan. I've been a fan ever since I was a kid. I take after my dad. :P I greatly dislike Michigan State and Ohio State. However, I will and often do cheer for Big Ten teams when they are not playing Michigan. I support the conference. Yes, even MSU/OSU.

This year looks good for Michigan. I'm not big into following recruits or anythingt, but the team was quite fresh last year. This year they'll be much improved since it's a more experienced team

USC and Texas still look tough. And I always thought Texas was overrated until the Rose Bowl last January. Kudos to them for a great game.

I hate Oklahoma... haha.. They lost to TCU. XD I cheered for Florida State tonight against Miami. They won 10-7. Nice. I also completely forgot college football was starting up, and I missed the Michigan game on Saturday. Oh well, no big deal. It was a give-me game. This weekend will be wonderful when they absolutely stomp Notre Dame.

    PS: NCAA Football > NFL
But if anyone wants to start up a Fantasy Football league for the NFL, I'm game. We'd need to do it quickly though...

    NFL > NCAA, but whatever.

My favorite teams are SMU and Baylor. Hometown represent, although I wasn't too happy with Baylor after they beat SMU...

Big XII rules all, even though I don't like OU and I'll only root for UT if they're playing someone out of state.

      Go Blue.
I watched clouds awobbly from the floor o' that kayak. Souls cross ages like clouds cross skies, an' tho' a cloud's shape nor hue nor size don't stay the same, it's still a cloud an' so is a soul. Who can say where the cloud's blowed from or who the soul'll be 'morrow? Only Sonmi the east an' the west an' the compass an' the atlas, yay, only the atlas o' clouds.

Man... I have to sell these freaking OU-bashing Texas A&M t-shirts at work. I guess I'm happy to be getting them out of the store. Now, I'll be the first to admit OU has come crashing down from its former glory, but I'm still Sooner-born and Sooner-bred, and when I die, I'll be Sooner-dead.

GOOOOO BAYLOR! Haha -- they won their first away game in 20-something years.

Joe Pa. And there isn't even that much tie for me. There aren't ANY powerhouse football schools in the southeastern Philly area, so I never had any 1 team to cheer for as a kid. Besides, my dad was too busy cheering for whoever he had $500 bucks on to have any loyalties lasting more than 1 week.

But, as with most people in my area, we like PSU over other schools. Its the closest university with a decent program, and who can't like Joe Pa, even if he does have both feet in the grave already.

Anyways, for NCAA Football, I'll watch ANY game. I just love football. So, I'm glad I don't have strong feelings about any team... because I just love watching football, and enjoy a good game more than cheering for 1 team.

As my recent bandwagon team: Boise State. Their games are often on TV, as they play a ton of night games on their blue turf, so they start around midnight, so you get to watch them all the time. They haven't lost a game at home in over 20. They haven't lost a conference game in about 3 years. They are always a good team. Then again, Jared Zabranski looked like a HS QB against UGA this past week. Then again, UGA is a top 10 team from a BCS conference.... and Boise State just has blue turf. Which kicks ass.
            RIP

Syracuse. Actually, there 2nd string running back and starting kick returner, Kareem Jones, graduated from my school 2 years ago. He set state records and such, and was the only big thing my school ever had. While SY always gets blown away in the Big East, I enjoy watching their games.

EDIT: NFL FFR Pool, http://ffrers.football.sportsline.com/e , join, we need more people.

I find college football more entertaining that the NFL because of the wholistic experience of the gameday, including the festivities around campus before the game and the experience in the stadium itself.

As an LSU fan, our season is still on hold due do the problems caused by Katrina. I'm looking forward to making the trek to Tempe, AZ this Saturday as we play the Sun Devils in what was supposed to be OUR home opener. It's the first game for our new coach after losing Nick Saban to the Dolphins.

USC is apparently still the team to beat, although their young defense will be put to the test. Or Leinart and Bush could just hang 50 on every team they play, as the media seems to think they can do.

                    They will. They will.

USC wins just as easily this year as they did last year.

One would think that you'd find less Michigan fans than this in a forum this big and with so few posts in it yet. Surely you can't ALL live in the land of automobiles and idiotic general managers. :/ *cough*Matt Millen*cough*

As always, I'm going to root for the Badgers. I can't help it, my dad has a degree from them, and to this day they're STILL calling for money. Pisses me off to no end when I pick up the phone to find that it's the Alumni Association again. >_< I also have an aunt (one of my HS teachers thought she was my sister because we're less than 10 years apart...hehehe) that graduated from Michigan State a few years ago. Oh, the pain of being torn between two teams in the same conference.

You don't need to live in Michigan to root for the Wolverines.

And I'm a homer too, I root for the BC Eagles.

This from a Philly person!? Well Tass, as you know, I'm from West Philly, and I would cheer for Temple if they didn't suck but oh well. At the moment, my top two picks for this season would have to be Miami and Virginia Tech, since I live in VA now. One of my friends is playing for VT this year. His name is Demetrius Taylor so look for him.

Also did you know the #1 ranked High School football player in the nation goes to my rival school? We have a game against them tonite which is pretty much the biggest game of the year. Details later.
