Ok...Why would she sue? If she bought the game and she saw it was rated "M"? Your not goin to see happly play time in a rated "M" game. Maybe back in her day it wasn't like this and she is about 50 years back on technoligy. PS I hope she loses the case.

Omg. Parents really need to read the damn label and stop pinning everything on Grand Theft Auto because that is not the only game rated M with violence and crap.

I liked this comment the best...

        "Grandma Buys Grandkid marijuana cigarette
Then sues when she finds it was laced with cocaine."

Pretty much explains the stupidity of some people.

Yeah, what's to discuss. The lady made a dumb lawsuit, nothing shocking or big.

I'm guessing that this old lady is looking for public attention. She is suing the company for something that the company was already under fire for.

Because like many other parents, she neglected to inspect the label on the box, and did not pay attention to current events. The Grand Theft Auto was already well-known for containing mature content. And I also hope that she'll lose the case.

You do all know that this is a clever ploy by the video game industry to get the Ao raiting more widly used for better profits in use with the ps2 and future consoles.

We see it on the psp, they didn't region their umd's therefore japanese porn can be shipped via umd and played on american psp's

                    RE: Grandma sues Rockstar

(sigh)... this is why I detest stupidity. 85 year old woman buys a game for a 14 yr old ALREADY HAVEING AN "M" RATING. I seriously hope that hte lady loses in court becuase its after the fact of the re-rate, the re-rate was all over the news... and isn't Thompson from FL too... do you suspect maybe that hes got some hand in that to a degree? I mean he just slammed SIMS 2 for promoting pedophelia simply for an anatomically correct computer model (which O wrote him a very long professional letter on how I believe him to be wrong)... this whoe thing makes me sick - why dont we just absolve parents and the legal guardians fo all responsibility demote the importance of independant thought and peronal research and just balme everyone else but ourselves (what happened to the phrase "Whne you point a finger at someone else, there are 4 more pointing back at you")... BAH...speds... all of em effing S P E D S.

I also disagree with the industry trying to get the AO rating more widely acepted. WHy would you want to be known for legally enfocing being carded to buy a game. You lose your market that way. Even if you make the games Ao and skip over the M, what do you think liberal media will do with it? Conservative Republicans? You're asking to be shunned in homes across America. Media feeds fear and Conservatives thump bibles... its a slow death and professionally dumb. The idea of business is to gain 2-5 times what you put in. Sex and violence sell yes, but when you restric your audience and bring to attention the content via the ESRB you limit buyers and alert the parents. THerezs a reason why you dont get a lot of Japanese import stuff here in America concerning porn - Its got to pass "safe for us" tests once it gets here...and import taxes are hell. Besides - why import if you can turn around and make it here cjeap - America is famous for emulation - especially the conformist Generation Y

Then again, its reminiscent of the McDonalds suit... that stupid lady would have been mad if her coffee wasnt hot wouldnt she?, but he stupid ass went and burned herself and was surprised her coffe was hot - iots supposed to be hot....dur! - what do you expect - the title of the game is GRAND THEFT AUTO - its named after a FELONY... as in Federal Crime, what did she think - it was going to star a round cute fluffy protaganist that has to save a princess in a backdrop consisting of smiling trees and talking birds fighting while you fight off "Evil do-ers"....you ARE the evil doer.... and shes mad...

Just to clarify things. I'm sure you'll agree that a lawsuit in that case isn't unreasonable.

Senator, would your probe of video games also take a look at the substantial benefits they can provide?

I'm writing to commend you for calling for a $90-million study on the effects of video games on children, and in particular the courageous stand you have taken in recent weeks against the notorious "Grand Theft Auto" series.

I'd like to draw your attention to another game whose nonstop violence and hostility has captured the attention of millions of kids — a game that instills aggressive thoughts in the minds of its players, some of whom have gone on to commit real-world acts of violence and sexual assault after playing.

I'm talking, of course, about high school football.
