Okay I was thinking this might go in another section, but its not all about a video game. Parents and their kids it's mostly about. After being idle on FFR for awhile, I decided to come back online WITH my new flatscreen moniter. Anyways on to the story.

This may be old news, I am sure most of you have heard about the "Hot Coffee" mod for GTA: San Andreas. It allows you to access a sexual mini-game with content, that just wasen't meant for kids. Apparently, the creator of the mod says the mini-game was already on GTA he just did somthing in the main file to unlock it. There is a rumor going around that Hilary Clinton is adressing this, but nobody is sure. Rockstar blames the hot coffee mod on hackers.

I was watching attack of the show just the other night and there was this bid deal about how there is an easter egg and you can access the sex scene thingy... But that it's also hard coded into the game as an easter egg, so it's actually meant to be there... That and they talked about how Hillary Clinton is getting pissed or something...

The game is rated effing 'M' with about 6 warnings for a reason... Whatever parent is dumb enough to get it for their kid, because you have to be 17 or older to rent or buy it anyways....

W/e... Silly stuff... That's why vice city was toned down a bit from gta3 cuz of so many complaints... So who knows what's going to happen to the GTA series now...

Anyway, I heard about it myself. I'm not surprised. Next game, they'll probably allow you to zoom in and out of the sex scene, or go first-person mode on it.

This instead of making it a worthwhile game, of course.

It's ridiculous that parents are angry about a game that was not meant for kids in the first place.
It's stories like these that make me think if these were thoughts going through a parent's mind; All videogames are for kids. Older people shouldn't play them. Therefore if there's a game that isn't for kids, it should be banned from the United States.
I'm not sure why a parent would buy this game for a 10-year old kid, or why the parent would buy the game for the person who posted before me. If a parent starts blaming Rockstar games for this, I blame the parent for letting his/her child even get their hands on the game in the first place.
EDIT: I would also like to add that this an indicator showing today's parents' are somewhat lacking in judgemental skills. Apparently, even after all that controversy the GTA series has caused in the past, parents still decide to buy the latest GTA game for their kids and later complain about it. It's like a little cycle...

You know what's funny? MSRB ratings are required by the government HOWEVER the much easier to sneak past movie rating system is NOT required at all.

Yup yup! With M-rated games, you've got to have an I.D. while with movies, just buy a ticket for Finding Nemo, hand that in to the guy checking the tickets, then go to the room showing that obscenely-gory-violent movie instead of that kiddie movie you were supposed to go to.
Also, look at the financial availability needed to get them. Which of the following can be accessed easier by a kid with allowance?
-M-rated videogame $49.99
-ticket to R-rated movie $9.00
Combined with what I said earlier, for a kid, the kid can into a R-rated movie much easier than trying to pick up that copy of GTA.

And don't forget the violent themes in music! Nobody pays attention to the Parental Advisory label anymore!

This isn't true at all.

Also, I'm ashamed at the ESRB for not having the guts to issue "adults only" ratings for games that are, like GTA, clearly for adults only. It's kind of like how the movie industry is too afraid to hand out NC-17. There are movies (and games) that are, quite simply, not for children.

There are some games that have "mature content" that are rated M (examples: Diablo, Quake, Metal Gear, etc.) but these games might still be acceptable for some older teenagers. Then there are games like GTA, God Of War, etc. that just fall into a category all their own.

ADULTS ONLY
Titles rated AO (Adults Only) have content that should only be played by persons 18 years and older. Titles in this category may include prolonged scenes of intense violence and/or graphic sexual content and nudity.

Doesn't that sound like God Of War or GTA?

I kind of have to point out the fact about this story that everyone seems to forget.

The coffee was over 400 degrees hot. It gave her third degree burns. She had to get skin grafts.

Just to clarify things. I'm sure you'll agree that a lawsuit in that case isn't unreasonable.
