Prank goes too far

Last night, a kid who lives across the street from me (who also goes to the same high school I do) had his house & yard TP'ed and forked, and whoever did it also egged his truck. They didnt just stop at throwing eggs at it, though. They also put eggs in the gas tank, rendering it unusable so he has to pay money to get it either repaired or replaced (luckily he has two gas tanks on his truck). That's not all. They also made a makeshift Molotov Cocktail out of a Gatorade bottle, some gasoline, and a dry rag, lit it, and threw it in his mailbox. The resulting explosion flung the mailbox into the street, and the pole that the mailbox sat on is now warped as well.

I could understand egging someone's car or TPing his house, but the mailbox... correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that's Arson.

And here's the real kicker, today's a Federal holiday, so they can't investigate who did it until tomorrow.

Why did it happen to him though? Did he do something to make it seem as if he deserved it? Or was it a celebration thing?

From what I heard, he was a friend of someone who beat up another kid, and the friends of the kid who was beaten up decided to do this.

While I personally think that it coulda been worse, that doesn't mean that what they did wasn't bad..hope they're caught...I also hope that kid puts his pedicure up some ass.

Technically, every crime against another person is a "hate crime." People use that term (very loosely) to describe racial attacks.

I don't think the bomb in the mailbox is arson, but I'm pretty sure bombing a mailbox is considered a federal offense.

And the only problem the guy's going to run into with his gas tanks is that if his truck is like mine, the front tank siphons gas out of the rear tank while the rear tank is in use, so here's hoping the eggs were put in the rear tank.

Molotov cocktails are considered to be weapons of arson, since they deflagrate instead of explode.

Gunpoweder does, too, but that MIGHT just be considered an explosive.

What the hell? That defeats the purpose of a moltov cocktail. It's suppose to shatter when it lands thus spreading the gasoline and fire. Those people are idiots. I hope they get caught just for that.
