Tampa last hosted Super Bowl in 2001...and again in 2009.
Associated Press
WASHINGTON -- Tampa was picked Wednesday to host the 2009 Super Bowl in a vote of NFL owners.
Tampa, which most recently hosted the NFL title game in 2001, beat out finalists Atlanta, Houston and Miami. Tampa also hosted Super Bowls in 1984 and 1991.
Next season's Super Bowl will be Feb. 5, 2006, in Detroit, with the 2007 game in Miami, and 2008 in a new stadium being built in Glendale, Arizona.
NFL owners voted in March to award the 2010 Super Bowl to New York, provided the Jets get approval for a 75,000-seat stadium on the West Side of Manhattan.
The next chance that Houston would have to hold the Super Bowl in Houston is until 2013. With Dallas receiving the Super Bowl in 2012, it would be very unlikely, and rare, if the Super Bowl is to be held the same state in back-to-back years.
I don't see any reason why the Super Bowl shouldn't be held in Houston. You've got the bars, the restaurants, the hotels, the Reliant Stadium with the retractable roof, and the Metro train to get from Point A to Point B. The Houston area weather is just perfect. Sure...you might get some rain here or there but that's what the retractable roof is for. To make the conditions in the stadium perfect.
