    If it's in your beliefs...

So, my trip to Philadelphia has come to a rather somber end.

Today Boston College's lightweight men's eight won its final (by open water), and then two-seat collapsed. He died. Cause has not been determined.

Judging from the impact this has had on my team, I know this has to be crushing to this young man's teammates (as a coxswain, who holds a responsibility for all her rowers, I can hardly imagine what BC's cox must be feeling). Please, please, please keep these men in your thoughts, or keep all us rowers in your thoughts. I've heard of people fainting after races, but never of someone dying.

Just another one of those moments that makes you realize how fast the worst can happen.

Oh gosh. That's so horrible. Hopefully it wasn't from dehydration or something. Make sure you drink a lot of water Pander =( RIP Scott Laio

I tried very hard not to laugh when I read that, and I failed. Sorry.

My sympathy is with you. Coincidentally, this week I decided that I am going to do crew in the fall. Shudder. D:

            RE: Re: If it

According to an NECN report, the cause of death was a heart attack.

A heart attack at college age? Wow, I feel for that kid's family.
I watched clouds awobbly from the floor o' that kayak. Souls cross ages like clouds cross skies, an' tho' a cloud's shape nor hue nor size don't stay the same, it's still a cloud an' so is a soul. Who can say where the cloud's blowed from or who the soul'll be 'morrow? Only Sonmi the east an' the west an' the compass an' the atlas, yay, only the atlas o' clouds.

They don't know what caused the heart attack just yet. A lot of people have a disorder where they are perfectly fine until they push themselves to that peak, and then they die. It happens in basketball a lot, I'm told. He could also have been dehydrated -- he had to weigh in yesterday morning, and if he'd been anywhere close to borderline-lightweight, he would have had to go without liquids for at least 12 hours before he weighed in so he wouldn't be bloated. It's pretty crazy.

Congratulations, Qreepy. You're lucky to get the opportunity to do this while you're still in highschool.
