Today, January 24th, 2005, I turn 20 years old. I am no longer a teenager.
I'm scared. Now I might finally have to accept that I am becoming an adult. Actually, I probably won't really have to worry about that until I move out of my parent's house, which won't be anytime soon.
My family celebrated my birthday Sunday night with homemade bacon burgers and Ben and Jerry's Phish Food ice cream. An excellent combination. For my present I am being given money to buy myself new shoes, which I desperately need. Tonight, if all goes well, I should be celebrating my birthday with my friends, although I have no idea what we are going to do. I will have to work, but it won't be that bad, since I am going to be skipping classes.
Whatever happens, this birthday should be infinitely better than last year's. Not only did all of my friend's forget about my birthday last year, it was also the day I was laid off from my job. The year before was even worse, but I don't want to get into that.
So now it is time for me to valiantly charge into the third decade of my existence. Here's to hoping it turns out at least as well as the first two did.
