I'm actually planning on doing this, since it's my ambition to get into Film Production as a career:

I'm going to do a short (probably) that is just around one character. He's the only character in the movie (besides extras with no lines). He is stumbling around the internet when he discovers a strange ploy about a supposed attack on his country. He reads more into it, does some strange hacking into government files, finds out even more disturbing evidence, starts to freak out. He gets a few "warning" emails from people he doesn't know, then starts to freak out. He checks around his house, goes out in town and scouts around for federal agents or someone suspicious. He becomes extremely paranoid about getting caught, but he can't just give up, so he goes back home and dives deeper into the rumours and the scandal. But when his computer shuts off/crashes he goes to the window and checks outside to see a cube fan parked in the driveway across the street from him. He freaks out, goes on the run (on foot) into the fields near his house. . . he keeps checking behind him, thinks he sees people in black suits following him but he's not sure when he looks again. . . but while he's paying too much attention to who may be following him, he falls down a steep hill, smashes his head on a rock, and lies there. . . nobody comes, but he's bleeding so bad that he blacks out quickly.

Was he onto something more, or was he just paranoid?

The film ends. I'd use some effects like when he looks back to make it seem like there could be people after him, but you can't be sure yourself. . .

It's probably best suited for a short since I doubt I'd be able to 1: Get a full length feature with only one character, and 2: Hold the viewer's interest long enough since there'd only be one character.

If/when I do this, I'll try and submit it to my city/University's film festival.

Jazz - I'd like that, but I'm one of those viewers that hates to be left hanging at the end of a film.

If that's the style you're going for, it's really enthralling. I'd just be one of those critics afterwards wondering "what happens next?"

That's what I'd want you to think. . . the whole thing would be centered around if the character really IS onto something or if he's just paranoid. . . there'd be other things, like when he was in town he would see people more than once that give him strange glances, but they'd be in suits. Are they following him or just businessmen?

I love thinker movies, and I personally like to have open endings. And considering how low budget it'd be (I'd have a budget of around 500-1000 dollars to make this), I could probably get more than willing people to participate, since I'd potentially only have to pay one person, or I could even get one of my friends to do it, since he's a pretty good actor (I've done a few other shorts with him before, but never submitted them). Anything that I could do to get my name out there in the Film world would be great. I have a nack for editing and music selection, and my camerawork is pretty well-organized. My directing is so-so since I haven't done much of it seriously. . . but I'd love to just get my foot in the door and perhaps get some film grants to make a feature length. If I could get funding, I'd probably make a feature length very similiar to that short.

          Better ending:

He wakes up in an insane asylum. Was he put in there by the men in suits to keep in quiet, or was he put in there because he was going crazy?

That's actually a pretty good idea, but you have to remember my financial constrants in this situation. But it would tie nicely. . . is he insane, is he being silented, or did he just imagine it?

Think Robin Hood meets Clerks meets Ocean's Eleven.
That reminds of an idea I once heard. I think it was actually a comic.

There's this guy, who works for this really underground syndicate. It actually isn't a real business, but more like an Evil Charity Foundation. Basically, this guy and other "agents" go to people that have had their lives ruined by Mafias for Gangs or other evil organizations, hand them a breifcase, tell them who they are, why they're here, and the contents of the briefcase. Then they leave. Inside the breifcase is one handgun, 5 clips, and about $1200 dollars in cash. The agent works for an organization that gives normal citizens the chance to take revenge on people that screwed them over. I think the comic was about this particular agent's amazing adventures filled with gunfights.

                Pretty sweet.

People who watch action movies watch them for the action, so my film wouldn't be watered down with plotlines and character development. It would follow one man through one day in his action-packed life. Imagine this now, if you will:

The movie fades in to a guy laying in bed, his alarm clock beeping at him. He rises and rubs his eyes, muttering how he hates going to work. He reaches and hits the alarm clock off, but there is still a beeping. He rolls out of bed just as a huge explosion happens on the other side. Ninjas run in through the hole in his wall and he begins fighting. He looks at the clock while fighting and exclaims, "CRAP! I'm late!!" From here he gets dressed WHILE fighting the enemies, then runs and jumps into his car. While driving full speed more people attack him, shooting at his car. He reaches in the back seat and gets his own gun, laying down some coverfire and evading as best he can. At some point he manages to knock an enemy off of his motorcycle and jump on as his car explodes, causing mass explosions and cars being hurled into the air for no apparent reason. He continues to work, fighting people with guns and kicking them off of their bikes, weaving in and out of traffic and going off of ramps that are conveniently placed.

He manages to barely get into work in time, with some angry looks from his boss. He sits in his cubicle and begins typing, but not long after he sits he hears a knock at one side of the cube. He looks right and a ninja tries to choke him from the left. He commences fighting with the hordes of ninjas again, picking up a letter opener and knife fighting, then later progressing to sword fighting, all while typing and doing work on the computer. Perhaps he would even answer the phones and transfer someone to another department, then use the phone as a sort of weapon and swing it into ninjas and choke them with the cord.

He eventually leaves work and sees an old lady about to be hit by a truck. He dives and saves the old lady, only to have the people in the truck jump out and attack him. At some point, he swings the old lady and she kicks some bad guys, then he uses her cane to bash some more people. He then pardons himself and leaves the lady to go to the store. He gets a cart and begins walking, then some ninjas smash their carts into his. They begin racing through the supermarket, with ninjas pushing carts with ninjas in the carts, punching and kicking at the main character. He manages to fight them off, lead their carts into displays (which sends the ninjas flying through the air, of course). At the checkout line, a ninja places a bomb in his bag of groceries and he has to fling the bag up into the air then catch the falling fruits and vegetables after the explosion.

After that, I'm not sure what he would do. Perhaps he'll go to the arcade and fight people while playing a fighting game, and when the fight is over it'll show the game saying "K.O.!!" or something similar. Or may be he'll go to the laundramat and do his laundry while fighting people, shoving ninjas into dryers and choking them with his own dirty underwear. Also, it would be cool if at some point there was bullet-time dodging stuff, and at some point there could be a random transition to giant robot fighting. I'm not sure how to fit that in and maintain the "normal everyday reutine" theme, though.

Regardless of what happens, though, it will end with him going back to bed with the light on, but then asking a ninja who is ready to kill him, "Hey man, turn out the light. I'll cya in the morning!" as though it's completely normal.

It would be the most action-packed movie ever. People say only Jackie Chan could play the part, though. Seriously, getting dressed, doing your job, and cleaning your clothes while fighting? Nobody else can pull that off.
Acid Techno must be playing during all of this.

If you do that, it will be the best movie ever.
