If any of you know if this sort of screen anomaly is common or not, or experience similar defects, please tell me. If this is uncommon, I'm exchanging it.
Mine doesn't do that, but I have a third gen. Better safe than sorry, I guess. See if you can snag the battery before you have to give it back, though- might save you a C note down the line.
Screw the screen, the marketing ploy is ingenius! I'm going to have to look into this.
It's time to take a survey, compare data, and eventually test Chardish's hypothesis. This is absolutely amazing. Maybe I should visit an Apple store, first.
It isn't noticeable if you're looking at it dead on, or even from a dozen or so degrees in any direction. But once you break past 45 degrees looking at it from the base, you can see it. A nice vertical line that looks like it's only there because of something pushing down on it from inside the iPod.
I have noticed that when my iPod is near the computer, or near anything that gives off a slightly magnectic field, the screen gets a little screwy. If you iPod is running fine, then dont worry about it.
