I refuse to acknowledge "learnt" as a real word. MAYBE back before the 1930s it was acceptable, but these days it's just LAZY.

"Learnt" is perfectly acceptable in British English today and, as such, okay to use in America, but understandably not used here.

We'll use a few irregular forms frequently, like dreamt, smelt, and leapt, but one we use all the time is meant.

Ah, yeah I forgot you need to compensate for the fact that America is different linguistically to Britain.

Then use "learned".
