I am 19 and I have been with my boyfriend for almost 4 years now. We were best friends for a year of so before we started going out. So that proves that it is possible to date a good friend. But basically your biggest mistake was telling her straight out that you were interested, especially seeing that she has a boyfriend. If you still want to have any kind of relationship with her, just focus on getting to be friends again. From there you can work up to something more. Don't rush it and make sure that you don't try to discuss it again for a while, because she clearly is shy and doesn't want to talk about it.
