long story short I'm playing ffr on my laptop while I'm away from home, trying to get it to not lag, and found this "fix"
do not do this
you should never need to resort to this to get a game running on your pc. if you absolutely positively feel as though you need to disable all of your startup services, you need to tick the "Hide all Microsoft services" before hitting "Disable All" and restarting. failure to do that will disable a load of services and you're pretty much booting into safe mode at that point, without the various safeguards that safe mode have.
