It's awesome having a friend on another team that will help take over a gym, then let you take it over and train. Pretty much did this back and forth for like an hour and got a ton of experience.

Be careful about doing that too much. They cracked down on people in Ingress that would be on opposite teams and would just kill a giant group of portals back and forth to power level. Got people banned eventually.
Got my first gym today
On the way back to work from lunch there was a gym just sitting there with nobody in it so I dropped in my terrible 336 Pidgeot lol. It's the highest thing I have.

Okay can I make an honest comment about this game?
It's a pretty badly designed game that is successful largely because of the Pokemon IP. From what I've heard, Ingress was and still is much better designed. After the hype fades, this game has little staying power mechanics-wise unless some good changes come in. Maybe nostalgia and social impact will be enough to sustain it though, who knows?
It doesn't help that the nearest Pokestop to me is 3 miles away and the nearest gym is a 10 minute drive. Once I run out of the free Pokeballs from leveling up I'm probably screwed until I go back to school and can live on the Brown campus again (on which it's impossible NOT to be within range of a Pokestop lmao)
That said I'm still enjoying PoGo for the nostalgia factor. Caught two Clefairys and a Seel today (along with the requisite hordes of Ratattas and Pidgeys and shit) and hit level 5.
I happened to drive near a gym today too so I got to choose Team Instinct - Zapdos has the greatest type advantage over the other legendary birds, thus it is the logical choice.

My phone is absolute trash tier and I read online that Go was only compatible with iPhone 5+ on iOS (I have a 4 that's barely functional)
After days of not being able to load the app, tried again today and somehow got through?
Seems kinda neat...my knowledge of game mechanics is basically non-existent atm I have no idea what stardust or any of this crap does or how it should be used effectively (will probably read up on this later) but one of the very first Pokemon I caught was a Snorlax and supposedly he's OP as fuck...which I'm pretty rattled about because I've heard everything you catch early on is complete shit in comparison to when you're a much higher level so to my understanding he's essentially useless?
Also throwing pokeballs is just as dumb as I thought it'd be with my phone lol

It is best to just leave your Pokemon until you get your levels higher. Using up stardust to power up low Pokemon will just be a waste since you are almost guaranteed to find stronger ones later in your levels.R.I.P JellyGod <333

I swear that 7 new pokestops have been added along the drive from my house to my sister's house. Received 6 eggs (two 2 km and four 5 km) just from driving there and back.
