Best: (Situation - Didn't want to present a thesis) Before class I told the teacher I was sick then later I put in my retainter and let it hit my gag reflex, I threw up right on the spot.

my dog once ate my homework, back in third grade.. I don't know..but he really did.. I told that to my teacher and she called my parents telling them i was a liar ;\

Jursey, I overuse your best excuse... I've used it atleast 20 times in each of my classes, but, I will continue using it because it is probably the most believable excuse.

Now that there is a new year starting... I have a new set of teachers to practice more excuses on.

Edit: Reminds me of a good story... a good friend of mine passed away in December due to a freak accident, but one of the most memerable stories about him is when he was in 4th grade and the teacher said "Ok, it's time for everyone to take out your homework". Brian (my friend) didn't take his out, and his excuse was that his dog peed all over it. The teacher didn't believe him so he pulled out this soggy, stinky, yellow math book... woo.
