the tab bar is always there, and it's not so big as to be noticeable or intruding, but about half an inch, and easily adds/deletes tabs.
The tab bar can be set to remain always open in firefox. Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Browsing -> Hide the tab bar when only one website is only (checkbox)
Manipulating tabs in firefox is pretty simple. Double clicking somewhere in the tab bar. Middle clicking closes the tab underneath the cursor. Right clicking brings up the standard context menu.

I've never had that problem, under Windows with Miranda IM/X-Chat or under FreeBSD with Gaim/X-Chat.

Open a new link? I'm going to assume that you mean window... In Firefox, middle clicking (or pressing control and clicking) on a link/bookmark opens a new tab, and pressing shift while clicking opens a new window.

you can even customize it so that the links you've been to dont show up as you're typing a url, so if you forget to erase all the stuff, and your mom wants to go to "www.supermarket.com" or something, she doesnt see the little drop-down thing with the list of porn sites starting with S you've been to.
Firefox, upon killing the history, also destroys the list of recently typed URLs in the address bar automatically. Firefox and Mozilla also have a variety of neat extensions, like the rather useful Adblock, which makes the internet suck less.

All of the above is the same with Opera. Opera has mouse gestures as well. Those are fun.

Last I checked, Opera was compatible with everything, including (but not limited to) THE INTERNET.

        well check again!

it screws up a buncha stuff, even though it's hella fast.

posting on ezboard is hard, because the background of the site is what you're typing on, according to opera, as opposed to the white background.

sometimes a flash would screw up when using opera.

        and no tabs.

CB (crazybrowser) being IE based IS a good thing, because IE is the simplest and most compatible browser there is.

all that other stuff you said - so it's the same as CB? that's basically what you said. "well firefox has that, too." so it's a matter of preference to design. i prefer CB, you prefer FF.

oh and did i mention you can't download the simfiles on FF? yeah. gotta use somethin else. guess what i use, and i dont have to switch browsers when i wanna download them. if that happens, something weird's up with how FF handles .zip and .rar files.

I don't care about the browser interface that much. I do care about the underlying rendering engine. IE's sucks. It's not in active development, and the next update to it will require an upgrade to Windows Longhorn because some asshole at Microsoft thought that integrating a web browser into the operating system was a good thing. What irritates me more is that the assholes at Microsoft, in SP2, are going to provide nice superficial browser enhancements to IE, such as a popup blocker and a simple way to control what ActiveX extensions are enabled. Will they update the rendering engine so that it renders PNGs correctly and so that it will render standards-compliant markup correctly? No. People will have even less of a reason to switch, and web designers with a brain will be forced to continue using disgusting hacks to make the simplest markup and styles work in IE. If, in SP2, IE is updated to support standards further and render PNGs correctly, I will promptly shut the hell up about IE's crapulence.

Opera has tabs. It uses a combination of MDI, SDI, and tabbed interfaces.

A single flash game is hardly enough reason for me to pollute the internet with a Windows IE-based browser.

meh. its nowhere near as gay as IE, though, dont worry.

you dont have to like, or even try it. i'm just saying, it's what i prefer because in my opinion it whoops some major ass.
