I can't stand threads that have personal attacks in them when it's about a serious topic like this. No matter how right you think you are and how much "history" you have with a person here, at least have the common decency to be respectful. If you don't then you truly give up actually trying to convince your opponent and then you discourage the majority of people from participating.
I'm only referring to a select few. Take your ego inflation to a less serious discussion.
oh i said it 3 years earlier i was wrong, 07 there instead of 04. oh right around the time the economy tanked...
the economy didn't magically tank because the house/senate went dem in 07. there were many more variables/legislative pressures/economic movements/incentive issues involved, and in that scenario the blame is all over the place. no one party is to blame for the crisis (although some are more responsible than others)
If it helps any: We knew the crisis was coming way back in the early 2000's -- we just didn't know exactly when the music would stop (some did and profited hugely from it, but I digress)
anyhow this isn't relevant to the topic at hand (the shutdown)
Could someone give me the big pictures as to what the hell the blaming would even help with?
It's just an endless pointing of fingers with no actual solutions given from what I've been seeing. What's considered to have been preventable still happens, then more blame gets tossed around.

Because no one has a solution that is or would ever be chosen, it's easier to blame the reason for their solution not being chosen on someone else.
the blame game is fundamental human behavior absolutely everyone is in it for themselves, and playing the blame game helps their self-image as the good guy

ideally it helps make people more aware of things so they are better informed when they vote. a lot of people vote against their own interests without even realizing it.
in reality, it's mostly a lot of wasted air. this thread is an exercise in boredom
there ARE plenty of solutions to our problems, but our system is broken in many ways and so it can be hard to arrive at something that is sensible. IMO nothing will improve until we get big money out of politics. in the end it's not so much dems vs. reps but greedy sociopaths with shitloads of money vs. everyone else.
