Don't you have to pay for both, now that I'm thinking? Well pay for having more people to join Vent/Mumble?
you need to pay monthly for a dedicated server, yeah. they really aren't that much money though. questions though: who would be willing to do it, who is going to mod it, how would ffr rules would apply to it, etc.
I would go on but I would prefer there be a separate channel for talking and another channel for idling/playing games/whatever
there is nothing more irritating than trying to have a conversation with 4 people who are playing a video game and have their attention selectively divided
Unless someone is mashing their keyboard/controller/whatever to kingdom come that no one can even talk, I see no problem if they're playing something relatively tame.

All in all I would say that Charu not only won this game, his play made me reconsider how I play it.

I'm in agreeance with this completely. Lounge channel, Stepmania channel (muted), FFR channel (muted), AFK channel, etc.
Having everyone in one place all the time is just asking for people to argue. Having different rooms allows people to speak to people personally without others interfering etc.
god damnit SCWolf is such a ****** relying on others to vent to about shit in his life, I wish his stupid thread would just stop existing before it becomes a problem
oh wrong place for this
No but seriously, this happens enough outside of the community, so it doesn't seem like we need this inside the community.
Maybe if enough people are onboard I can get a 30 slot vent to start with or something. They're relatively inexpensive.
if you have the option to purchase a mumble server, do that instead please. the voice quality is superior, there is less latency, and it's more stable/efficient than ventrilo.

i thought it was courtesy to turn off your mic when you're playing a song
most voip programs are push-to-talk by default, so this wouldn't even be an issue.

see above response. having both of these muted is unnecessary.
