TV/Stereo Sound Issues

Okay, so, I'm trying to hook my laptop up to display on my HDTV (standard 19" Insignia).

I've got the display going, but I can't figure out how to correctly connect my 2.1 speakers to the TV. Whenever I get anything playing through the speakers, it will only play through the left speaker and the sub. Nothing will come through the right (it's the same way if I plug my headphones in. Only comes through the left side).

I've got the standard plug ins for the TV (as far as I'm aware). I just can't quite figure out how to correctly get all the cords in the correct place. any possible help would be appreciated

if you cant figure it out for yourself, you might as well throw the speakers away because you dont deserve to use them
