    No More Brag Board

I feel the Brag Board should be deleted, if not permanently, at least temporarily. Every thread started in there turns into a flamewar or someone calling someone else bs. It's just a waste of space and making controversy between alot of our members.

rather than kill the place where the flamewars are, maybe we should just give all those starting flamewars a slap in the face. i like the idea of a brag board, but all those nay-sayers need to shut up.

making fun of a stupid person's way of closing posts,

So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =(

In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz.

So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright.
And I write the blog for their website.

Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =O

No, it's fine. That board is why I come here. The idiots will always be around.

I used to look at the brag board all the time as well; it was my favorite board. Now it has just gotten out of hand.

It can be kept....if things get too out of control an admin gets involved. And not every thread turns into an argument. People on this forum are surprisingly accepting of other people's scores, as long as they're not really unbelivably good or given by someone who hasn't proven themselves.

            I got a B on K8107, and they called me bs. A B.

I'm not meaning to center this on me, but that was the only example of an unreasonable claim of bs that I could think of.

Take away the brag board, and you are taking away most of the reason I post here. Its nice being able to let others know of your accomplishments, and it feels good to be congratulated for them.

The bs calling has gotten a bit out of hand though. But I'm sure that can be remedied with in another way than just removing the board.

Let it stay. If even one person likes it, then keep it, b/c if you hate it, you can just not go in it.

i can think of a better position for you than president...whoa, off topic

back on topic: keep it. some people that's all they do is post brags. others, like myself, look at the brags as benchmarks. also, you can find out about cool songs easier there than anywhere. idunno how many times i've seen a brag posted and somebody say "what song is that?" and then a link is posted and everybody gets it and loves it.

Yes, but people wander into the Brag Board, and they think "Hey I got some pretty good scores I think I'll post them!" They put up their scores, and then 5 people scream "OMFG BS", and then a bunch of people get pissed at a bunch of other people, and there's a bunch of controversy and in the end it would have just been better if the person wouldn't have posted the scores. The only people that get congratulated for their scores now-a-days are the respected, "1337" players who can make us believe anything they say.

similar (tho not as bad) things happen on other boards too. its the people, not the board

Half the people in the forums come solely for the brag board. Beyond that, like banditcom said, idiots will never go away. People will just start posting good scores in Chit Chat and starting flame wars there. If nothing else, the Brag Board at least contains the flaming.

It's the nature of the board.

Consider: Stepmania is very competitive, and it means a lot to people. When I see someone is trying to pass a bunch of amazing scores that are better than anybody's (Robby's) for being legit, I take action. I'm pretty sure all the shit I give to people is deserved. That's the point people are missing--the flames are reasonable. The people that call bs on others have reason for it. For example, it's not like we hate Kenyza, but you need to be very specific about an accomplishment like Blur and your proof for it. Everyone knows what a usual spurious score looks like, so when someone gets a great count that matches their miss count, they'll get jumped on.

Uber, whoever you are, listen. The first thing that took a chunk out of your credibility is when you slowed down the music and got a few amazing scores. First of all, that means you have it inside of you to bs to everyone. Secondly, you have shown that you are ABLE to cheat. That means a lot, and you should have thought about that before you were stupid enough to slow down the music for a couple of meaningless scores. I know how much you regret that now, but it is a lesson you needed to learn. On top of all this, you got really good in the matter of months. So there are three things that don't pertain to the average SM player. Together, those three things make it hard for us to believe anything that comes out of your mouth. With Robby supporting you (in the stupidest ways, might I add), your case makes both of you look like real dipshits. The thing that gets me is, you STILL think we should believe you...
