Found this to be hilarious honestly. Though not in good taste, it got its point across (albeit not directly)

So Dossar's biggest fear is Death and not arrowsmash skill loss O__o

Really though if you have death anxiety I suggest you avoid the internet a bit cause most people there do in fact take it lightly cause it is as MarioNintendo stated, a part of life and you can't avoid it so why ruin your life by worrying about it happening.

          Re: dumb ways to die

I don't live every day of my life fearing death, I get pissed when people say it's not serious - BIG difference

Saying death is not serious would be like someone launching a nuclear bomb and killing everyone because "death is a part of life" and there's nothing serious about it. Apparently 9/11 isn't serious either from this logic because "death is a part of life".

I'm expecting a response to this post that it completely distorted the point of your post. What you're really trying to say is to not take death so seriously that it interferes with your daily life and that it's inevitable.

That's the last thing I'm leaving in this thread. I understand that there is no point worrying about death every day, it's when people say it's not serious that I get mad.

First of all, there's a big difference between trivializing one of the most destructive human tragedies in recent history and poking light at accidental deaths in order to educate people on safety.

This ad very, very clearly isn't ADVOCATING for people to use their junk as piranha bait or teach themselves how to fly: it's contextualizing these abstract horrors in a way that will get across to people without being so grave that it turns people off. The cognitive dissonance might hurt, but in the end, this is just good advertising. Whether it's ethical or not is up for debate. That doesn't change the fact that it's quite effective.

I can get behind your belief that death shouldn't be treated as a joke (though apparently many people in this thread disagree), but that really, really isn't what's happening here.

                Re: dumb ways to die

I really think you're taking this video out of context. It's meant to educate people on being safe and not dying because of something foolish without being graphic and using something people can't stomach. I remember when I was in elementary school they made us go to this assembly and watch this video where kids kept playing on train tracks and eventually two of them couldn't get out of the way in time and we saw them get run over by the train. We had to see like the body bags and all that blah blah. I had nightmares forever after that, I don't know who in their right mind would show that to kids that are like 8 - 10 years old, but it was meant to educate us about what could happen if we played around train tracks. I'd much rather someone try to get that message across in a less graphic way to my children thank you.

As someone who has experienced the extreme downsides of death in the family:

Jesus tapdancing Christ, it's just a cartoon. It's not like it's a music video sung along to snuff films or something. Watching Budd Dwyer blow his brains out to Yakety Sax, etc.

Pretty much. I've had quite a few experiences with death in my family (including my own father) and I see no reason to get offended by trying to educate people through a PSA such as this.

Especially relating to what Kayla said, this is a far superior way to teach children about the dangers of doing stupid things, and would be far less emotionally scaring to them. This video was able to convey it's message about not being careless with your life, and make it mildly cute and humorous so it is more inviting to a younger viewing audience. Or would you rather we show bodies torn apart, organs scattered everywhere, dismantled human corpses unidentifiable by even their own parents because "it needs to be taken more seriously". I'm sure parents would love to show their children stuff like that, just like how parents LOVE to show their children hardcore porn when they talk about sex with them.

Does this song bother you Dossar? Genuinely curious.

I understand your argument, but I still personally believe you are taking it too seriously.

To be fair, I once felt bad for striking down an innocent civilian when playing Jedi Knight II. Poor woman gave me shelter and I gave her a lightsaber across the throat.

People can easily argue that you are overreacting -- however, you are bringing up a valid point (albeit in a few really extreme scenarios). Death -can- be serious; however, it isn't -always- serious.

Popadopalis hits it right on the head though. When educating a subject as potentially extreme and potentially graphic as death, there are multiple ways that you can go about explaining it. There are many types of literature that explain all of the ways that you can perish from foolish manners. There are education videos, some that get really graphic, and others that are really ambiguous/obscure. Then, there's videos like this, with the intent of explaining by showing and some telling using a silly, more approachable style, like a cartoon.

Rather than assuming that all of the situations aren't being taken serious, consider that the situations are expressing very possible scenarios that a naive or ignorant person might get themselves into. They seem silly and nonsensical, but there are people that get killed like this all of the time. Yeah, there are a few satirical sequences in here, but they are for the purpose of comedic relief. Come on, you can't sit here and tell me that dressing up as a moose during hunting season isn't hilarious -- who is going to do that, honestly?

Another point that I really agree with is this:

Perfect response. Death itself as a concept is not serious at all, because it is completely normal. Generalized statistics say that roughly 1.8 people die per second, so it is something that happens literally like clockwork. The way that people die isn't always serious either; some people perish of old age and other natural cases, and it might be peaceful. The only thing that is serious is the sole fact that people -are- dying.

Lastly, this video isn't even intended to be about death. It's simply comparing silly/foolish ways to die and train safety, as people get killed by trains in multiple ways and it's often avoidable.
