Maybe this is my ugly American showing, but this PSA took way too long to get its point across. This was mitigated by the cuteness of the animation and the soft, lilted tones of the song that made the whole 3 minutes bearable.

Yeah, when I was young I had no idea what was really being said... but when you get older and actually listen to the lyrics / take in the symbolism of the whole thing, it's all extremely, extremely dark shit :O
Funnily enough, the Toaster's owner almost dies in a dumb way in that movie (holds onto the vacuum being picked up by a magnet, tossed onto the conveyor belt, gets stuck under a heap of junk headed for the crusher, and is saved by a suicide attempt from the Toaster):

Wow that was actually a very clever video. I would call it a music video before calling it a real PSA: it's that good! The people who made this really did great.
And also, Dossar, if you're uncomfortable with the idea of death, that's normal, but I don't see how this video could offend you so bad. It's basically just saying you have to take care of yourself not to get hurt, simple as that. What's the matter?

The thought of even trying to put in "cute" to something like death is inappropriate
There is nothing cute about getting hit by a train. There is nothing cute about getting eaten by piranhas. There is nothing cute about getting hit by a bus. There is nothing cute about anything related to death.
Every time I saw the dancing cartoons, it looked like it was sugarcoating death and making it not look like a big deal. I can't even listen to the song or watch this video anymore because of how much it appears to just make death look less severe.
Arguably I'm "taking a cute cartoon video too seriously" but there is nothing cute about this video when you consider how serious death actually is. Am I really the only person that looks past the "cute" factor immediately?Originally posted by hi19hi19Comment

I talk about death in a thread and people are disgusted. Someone posts this video and it's cute. It's less something to be upset about more a way to get people to think about how fragile life is without making it a tragic terrible depressing way of thinking about it. That's how humor works really.

It's a disturbing video if you take it seriously, for sure. But in that disturb-ness you'll remember the lyrics very clearly and what was shown.
It's a disturbing PSA, but it gets the point across in a weird mental way. Is it in good taste? Absolutely not, but I think it clearly got the message across.

Yes, indeed you are. You're the only one of us that can't handle death in a way that watching a cartoon offends you.
Seriously dude, death is part of life. It isn't severe, it's an inevitability. Everything that is born has a finite amount of heartbeats, once those heartbeats run through (or of course something else steps in the way) everything and everyone dies.

Death is nothing serious and there is nothing to worry about that is related to death. In fact, between life and death, life is undeniably what deserves most of your pity.
