So I just got a tooth pulled out today

Ive had a giant hole in my tooth for god knows how many years. Out of nowhere, it starts flaring up and pain shot through the area. Could hardly sleep the past 2 night(sat and sun) and left work early monday due to the pain. The OTC crap didnt help and ended up going to the hospital this morning around 2 am cus it was too much, i was literally crying it hurt that bad. Gave me some shots to numb it and finally crashed about 4. Woke up around 1pm and finally it ripped out. Now im on percocets, lortabs, and penicillin, whole lower left side of my face is numb and have gauze in my mouth to catch all the blood. Couldnt feel more better right now. Any one out there know that feeling?

i honestly dont know. only thing i can think of is maybe one day i was chewing on something tough like cartilidge from a meat bone or candy and crack. it was gonna cost me $245, but since i have Metlife dental insurance, it came to $79

looks like caries (bacteria, i.e. a cavity)

it flared up and pain shot through the area likely because the bacteria penetrated deep into the pulp where the nerve is.

in some cases you could do a root canal and crown on such a tooth but the damage looks ridiculously extensive, was probably easier (and a lot cheaper) to just pull it, especially since this probably went to oral surgery if you went to the hospital.

i was told there was infection and thats why i got penicillin. now im drugged up and feeling better.they gave me some shots to numb it and when they came back to start, it was over in 2 minutes. i was so happy

Word of advice form past experiences. don't smoke for a week after getting a tooth pulled. Or rip //air pockets

i was told no smoking( which i dont) soda, alcohol for 24 hrs. cant spit, suck through a straw,rinse for fear of a dry socket

When I had my wisdoms yanked, I was in serious fear of dry socket, lmfao. Basically any action of pursing your lips and creating a pressure differential = bad news bears
