Tip based on whatever you ordinarily would have tipped had you made the same order but without coupons.

Or in other words, when you use coupons, though it reduces the cost of the items, do not reduce the amount of your tip. They still did the same work as if you hadn't used coupons and deserve the full tip.

What they deserve is a consistent pay for a consistent job. Pizza delivery isn't exactly a "service" that one person can do better than another.

I know this is delivery, but I usually just go with $1 for every $5 on the ticket, and round the change to either .50 or the next dollar, depending on service.

Actually, yes it is. It is a service job and someone very well could do a worse job at it than others. You are paying for the service of delivery of your order to your residence in a timely fashion while not messing up the pizzas or otherwise messing up in some manner.

I use that same coupon everytime, and actually did yesterday. Came out to $15.88 and I gave the driver $3.

imagine having two delivery drivers come up to your door

the first one has a lousy attitude and says something like "hey here's your pizza that'll be x amount okay man bye"

the second one has a great attitude and says stuff like "thanks for ordering from us we have here *repeats your order* and it comes out to x amount have a great day/night and enjoy"

dunno about you but I'd tip the second one
unfortunately the majority of delivery drivers are the first person

I get Dominos pretty often (it's right by my apartment) but I don't tip since I do carryout.

I guess so. It doesn't make a huge difference to me as long as I get the pizza, but I guess someone could be a total douche.

I guess another reason I usually don't do a lot is because the place is like right down the street from me haha. There have been times I've tipped pretty high if they were really fast and friendly. But yea usually it's in the 2 to 3 dollar range for pizza delivery for me.

I hardly care if they are bored and act bored. If someone is an absolute ass which I haven't encountered yet, well yeah, I wouldn't like that. In fact when people are extremely polite it makes me nervous.

On topic: I'd do the $20 no change situation.

Rant: I don't understand why we have a minimum wage in the U.S. if servers don't get payed at that rate. Servers main source of income comes from tips, which we have established to be 15+% regardless. What we should do, in my opinion, is pay everyone at least minimum wage and tips should be based on how the server actually performed, not some arbitrary percentage of the total cost of your bill.
