Re: 2012 NFL Season Kickoff
Lions are def looking like one of the better teams this season. I really want to see how well the Panthers do this season especially with the Saints in the condition they're in as of now.Comment

Re: 2012 NFL Season Kickoff
I think as long as Stafford stays healthy I think the Lion's will have a winning season. I'm not looking for a Super Bowl appearance, but at least another playoff appearance or even taking divisional would be pretty sick.

Re: 2012 NFL Season Kickoff
The Lion's second string (Shaun Hill I think his name is) is actually pretty decent if I remember right so even if Stafford goes down (unless it's for the entire season then yeah they're ****ed) for a bit I think they'll be ok as long as their other stars step up.Comment

Re: 2012 NFL Season Kickoff
I dunno about the Lions. Stafford got mind-****ed pretty hard early on, and it was almost like they WANTED to be behind the entire game.
As for the Packers, well, their offense is still undoubtedly good, but the Niners defense was better. Combine this with having to scale back the number of snaps Raji takes, and I see issues with the front four that might translate into more defensive struggles, no matter how beastly their linebackers are...plus, Woodson isn't getting any younger. That 15-1 was definitely a flash in the pan, though I like what I see in Cobb. He took his resume as a slasher of a return man from his rookie year and not only built on that, but added some versatility in a receiver role that will force defenders to guess what route to cover. Never mind that the refs in that game were total newbs.
Speaking of the Niners, Randy Moss being inside everyone's heads as a deep threat opens up all sorts of underneath routes that he's fast enough to turn into intermediate gains. 49ers are going to have another heck of a year if they can work Manningham into the rotation and keep their rock-solid defensive performance going. Of course, when you play conservative, old-school football like them, games are going to be close, and close games are decided by who executes better and does the little things.
That was one monster kick by Akers, though. 63 yards and he drilled it right down the middle, then got a lucky bounce off the crossbar.
