The stuff I see from my facebook friends aren't like that for the most part. The ones that are, I mess with them and either they laugh or they get pissed off. Sometimes it's fun to screw around with those who post things like "LMS for truth" or "rant about how horrible my life is." Most of the stuff I see are actually more like tweets though. They're usually talking about either what they're doing at the moment, or something they've been working on. It's little life updates. Half of the posts also seem to be pictures of themselves (thankfully I'm seeing no duck faces, most of them are the traditional fake-smiling ones that we're all so used to).

Government data mining.
Corporate data mining.
People who otherwise wouldn't be caught dead using a computer use those sites.
Lack of specific user control over profiles and information.
Coercion to use those sites via your friends or people you know.
Online stalking.

Give me an online social networking site without any of the above and I might consider using it. It will need to NOT be corporate nor government controlled. It will need to NOT require any more than the bare minimum required by law of information from users, allowing them to add/not add whatever else they feel appropriate. It will need to NOT use your data in any way/shape/form other than allowing you to use it as you see fit and with your contacts (aka none of this data mining BS). It very well may need to be a decentralized network of some form if it gets big enough.

It's sad when you're trying for a job and then they check your stuff to find maybe one thing they don't like. It's very rude and invasive to privacy.

Also, people getting fired over stuff like that. It's crazy. XvX

Many, many, many things!
For one, people rarely act normal in social networks. They seem to have a doble-sided face and act very differently to what they used to.
Secondly, most people are circle jerks, and won't allow new people into their groupie of people that obsess over profile pictures.
For a third, I don't like social networks at all, so yeah.

The one thing I hate about BBM is the tbh stuff/broadcast messages. The one thing I hate about facebook (well many) are tbh, like mah status, and people posting pictures of their bongs/how many bottles of alcohol they have.

That I'm expected to partake in social networking to a much larger degree than in the past (social networking in the grand sense) because of things like facebook.
That social networking seems to be taking over time that would once have been used for more meaningful conversation and discussion with individuals.
That the information that someone chooses to divulge on facebook is geared towards groups of people not any individual person.
The feeling that I'm not public enough with personal life because I hardly post anything on facebook.
That I'm far too lazy to maintain my facebook in such a way that I actually might like facebook.

I don't think I've ever posted an inspirational photo.

Although a bunch of my friends and I have this group where we post primarily funny shit.

Social networking is only bad if you have terrible friends. I only add people that I actually care about so my facebook feed is never polluted with garbage like what was posted here.
