Re: Rate The Song Above You
tofurox -> Decent hardcore, though the song needs some re-editing. There are some stops in the beat that feels half a tempo too long and makes the whole rhythm disconnected. I believe the best details of the song resides in the background and I think they should be acting as the primary elements. I have a feeling this would be more fitting as a DnB track. Beginning has some nice transitions: 5/10
paexaea -> Cowboy Bebop I see.. Swing meets Easy Listening. Simpleminded and atmospherical, yet works like a charm. This would clearly be in my top choices for songs to play for people waiting in a broken elevator. A big ass everlasting loop of bebop... pure EVIL bebop. Not my kind for everyday music though but the composition is like a perfectly balanced chemical formula: 8.333/10
Gonna try some of my home's stuff with you guys. I guess it's a hit or miss.

Re: Rate The Song Above You
Oh wow that was actually really good, loved the violin part. They remind me a lot of stuff like arcade fire and the like, or well just indie rock I guess is what I'm thinking of. Been looking for good french rock stuff but couldn't find anything that was up my alley, this is a much better starting point, thankies
.
Edit 2: holy crap I forgot to score it lol. 8/10
I can play this game in random languages too!
(comments say it's German but sounds French to me lol)
Edit: no wait it's definitely German haha, that's so weirdLast edited by FrozenAngel91; 09-4-2012, 03:36 AM.

Re: Rate The Song Above You
Aeroethimetic, why did you give an 8/10 for a youtube dashboard url? There was no music vid lol
As for paexaea
Sorry, didn't like it. Guitar play at 1:52 was pretty neat but other than that, the voice sounded kind of amateurish which in itself is not a problem but there's nothing really interesting going on either imo which made the amateurishness very apparent. 5/10
Here's some proper hardcore btw, instead of silly mainstream hardcore like tofurox's one :J

Re: Rate The Song Above You
Ohyesyesyes. Very crude, and solid track. Perfect example of what needs to be a powerful song. Also pretty concise, as in it "goes directly to the point" of the genre. 9.5/10
It's a good feeling to see people getting interested in the french canadian production. Still believes your best bet when it comes to indie rock is Malajube. Patrick Watson and Karkwa are a must too. Then I'd suggest you should look into Plants & Animals or We Are Wolves and start from there. There's much to discover.Originally posted by frozenangel91Oh wow that was actually really good, loved the violin part. Re: Rate The Song Above You
It's thrash metal, dude. It's supposed to give off the punky, IDGAF vocals. PS Kurt Brecht is the shit.Aeroethimetic, why did you give an 8/10 for a youtube dashboard url? There was no music vid lol

Re: Rate The Song Above You
I get that pae, and I listen to punk and stuff like that from time to time as well, but that doesn't take away that in this case the voice is just too amateuristic (for the lack of better words) for my tastes.Last edited by Nullifidian; 09-5-2012, 08:11 AM.

Re: Rate The Song Above You
0/10 for now
Skipping turns sucks, I'll be editing this later on with an honest critique after you rate my previous song.
Edit as well: Normally I don't venture too much in Crossover Trash. Love me some Punk but not too fond of Trash you see? Nonetheless I have to concede, the concept works just fine and fits perfectly in the underground/anti-semite scene back then. I've got nothing to say on the track although it tends to side more in the Trash Metal genre than the Punk Hardcore. The solo itself sums the whole song. Great part. The shouts too.
There's just on thing that bothers me a lot and ruins the thing. (and it's only because of personal preferences), but it's gotta be the Iron Maiden'esque singing. I.JUST.HATE.BRUCE.DICKINSON. Especially in the first lines of the verses when the guy squeals. In this case, I prefer a lot more Kurt Brecht from Dirty Rotten Imbeciles, the singing is much more raw, much more truthful to the punk aspect of the genre.
IMO, without singer: 9/10. With singer: 3/10
Btw, sorry, seems like we're bothering a lot about singers. Actually, I understand what Spitfire said about the "amateurishness" of the voice but I have to add that it always have been part of the punk history, and this is what makes it great. I mean, c'mon, think of Suicidal Tendencies or even Bad Brains.Last edited by Crazyjayde; 09-5-2012, 11:37 PM.Comment
