The whole point is that it isn't a multi-million dollar label, it's a small indie label, and I imagine every lost sale hurts more because of that.

It wouldn't be such a big deal if it was EMI or something, those guys are dicks.

Look, I own a label. I upload the shit on it myself. I'd rather put a high quality version of something out there for free, because sooner or later, there will be a shit rip floating around. Make music, make it marketable, there's your anti piracy. When people like your stuff, they pay for it.

I hate beatport, itunes, napster, and all those damn mp3 retailers. I think it's better to advertise your shit and take donations, or set the price yourself and get paid via paypal. (Then just send out a private dl link to the buyer)

The problem you begin to face with that type of distro method, is that if you don't already have a massive following for whatever given reason, then you won't have anyone buying your material. (This method works perfect with already established artists, or groups like Monstercat)

When you distribute your label via an aggregate and get out on 30+ digital retailers world-wide, you can then start to market to niche demographics that you normally wouldn't have been able to attain, yknow?

Besides, Beatport owns about 70-80% of the market share when it comes to EDM sales, so if you're not on Beatport, not charting, etc, it's very VERY hard to make a name for yourself or as a label. All well. It is what it is.
