            game is pretty meh overall

i dont understand why they put so much effort into pve for leveling and whatnot with essentially 0 endgame pve content, tons of stuff is bugged (invisible walls halfway through a 3 hr dungeon?????????? unable to capture stuff for your guild in wvw) structured pvp essentially makes the game a moba where you pick your skills and forces you to use gear that pigeon holes you into stat setups

downed state is worst pvp mechanic of the entire century

auction house is down 99% of the time but i guess thats ok because in the one hour it was up the entire week i basically gearcapped everything

there aren't any rankings for structured pvp (nvVM there r but if i wanted to train a 5 man team to play a pvp game id just play LoL) and wvw is horrible because even if you have a boss 5 man killing people 5v20 you still can't carry 500 shitbads (and i mean shitbad i mean people queue wvw PvP to ****ing pve and fight mobs because guess what sitting there and whacking a giant worm for 15 minutes with all 200 people in the area is apparently more important than capturing or defending objectives) or conversely if you're winning the entire system is a faceroll and completely boring as ****

tl;dr the game isnt even an mmo its like a moba with bad combat with a side of wvw that you have 0 impact on as a single player (or even as a 5-10-15+ man group tbh)

e: the only real upside to this game is i like the way my character looks

As someone who has played them all (WoW, Aion, Rift, Tera, EQ, Ect) I'm just really happy they succeeded in making something different.

I'm only 63 right now but it's been a blast, Playing a Human Engineer on Darkhaven (Jerot.2053)

Absolutely love not having to slog through a quest log and work to get any story out of the game, it just puts you right in it and it feels a lot more "alive" than games like WoW. Obviously it has its problems here and there, but nothing that has really detracted from my experience.

Also love the "Live-Patching" stuff or whatever its called, makes WoW downtime look like an absolute joke (I understand the difference of size in playerbase, but really... they cannot scale any of this up?)

                  Re: Guild wars 2

Hit level 70 today and tried the first dungeon (Ascalonian Catacombs, 30-35) out. Story mode is laughably easy, aside from the twins/lovers/whatever the hell they're supposed to be. All the encounters are trivialized completely since they allow graveyard zerging. Ridiculous. Tried explorable mode after that. It is unforgiving. It's been a long ****in' time since I had fun in a dungeon in a game like this, but yeah, this is really cool. I still don't like how you can graveyard zerg - we probably wouldn't have been able to beat some of the bosses without it - but the difficulty is tuned so damn high you're pretty much dead the instant you make a single mistake. Nice.

If they remove the zerging I'm definitely gonna head back in and try to progress through these dungeons again.

also sup bump I still play this game

edit: i hated how melee is punished so bad throughout the dungeon though. was forced to switch to a staff early on, and i kept using it throughout the entire dungeon even though i'm DD ele normally. even our gs warrior switched to rifle quite a lot 'cause some mobs just murder melee to the point where it's not even worth trying.

lmfao the lovers. I ran AC story 3 times now with different friends and people do not seem to understand that you need to seperate both via kiting. And yeah, me as a Norn Warrior with Dual Axes gets ****ed a lot easily in dungeons, and that's only the level 30 one :<

PS: This is the best "casual" (and I use that term loosely) MMO out there right now, in my opinion.
I have college work for 2-3 days then I just get on for a day grab 5 levels [via exploration / main story] or so, weaponsmith, run a dungeon or two, sell stuff on trading post and get off. Level 47 so far.

Oh, we understood that immediately 'cause it kind of clearly states in the mob details that she "gets stronger near Vassar" and they're both surrounded by these really obvious white circles so we just tried our best not to have them overlap. It was still about 20 times harder than any other fight in the AC story mode - including the final boss - and the only fight where we had to actually respawn from the nearest waypoint and run back. Exploration mode, however, is a completely different story, as we were dying a lot to the first graveling burrow event in path 1, and we died a lot to the penultimate event in path 2 where you have to set up the mortars for the Ghost Eater fight. Both of these events had us frenetically zerging from the graveyard, although it pretty much never worked due to the distance between the events and the waypoints. The fact that we couldn't zerg made the graveling event an extremely tough hurdle to overcome for us but it made the victory really sweet, and it made the fight really tense when everyone knew they absolutely needed to stay alive in the midst of all the chaos. That said, the mortar event never resetted and we never lost progress when we died so that just felt kind of frustrating and annoying even though we probably died just as much on that one. Funny how that works.

Also, I think it's a bit of a stretch to name this a casual MMO considering how brutal the dungeons are and how seriously they're trying to market the whole eSport PvP crap (which currently fails to hold up to the standards set by other eSport titles but I'll bet they're working hard on that and it's probably going to be really cool later on). I'm guessing people are slapping this label on it because it doesn't have raids or something, but that's just kind of silly.

                        Re: Guild wars 2

Alright, I do agree with that casual is perhaps an incorrect term, but it is very flexible for people who cannot invest a large majority of their time in it daily -- which I have noticed is rather necessary on other MMOs especially once you reach higher levels / guilds that will not tolerate too much inactivity. Here I can take 2-3 day breaks, do the activities I enjoy, and benefit from, be that monetary or experience-driven and just always have a good time and the Guild I am in is always on and encourages and helps players such as me (although I do not really need it). I cannot speak for PvP because I'm a PvE-kinda guy but so far I can assure you I have had a lot more fun with this MMOs than most others, because it does things in a different approach: Be that the insta-weapon swap skill-based system, or how exploration is rewarded and encouraged by EXP, and further rewards for 100% completion of an area. Good shit.

And teleportation (minus the small fee which can be annoying)... **** walking and / or mounts haha

Also, while it isn't required GW2 is so much more of a blast with a buddy or 2. (or more obviously) Exploration of new areas and Dungeons while in Skype is the bomb.

PS: While the circular notifications and the text told people that the lovers were stronger together PLUS I warned them in chat, they still charged in and then were unable to separate them for the longest time on my third run... Silly Rangers don't seem to know how to kite.

Once you get to 60+ you're going to notice that "small fee" ends up being anything but small. I know level 80 people who've actually gone broke from waypointing all over the place. After noticing I was practically losing money from teleporting to save time, I stopped salvaging gear and instead started to salvage only the items that are specifically meant to be salvaged. Now, I sell those too, along with any and all crafting materials I come across.

Aaaand eventually I just stopped using waypoints unless absolutely necessary. Now I'm starting to make money again, but I'm suspecting dungeons are going to screw that over pretty soon as well since repair bills can get pretty ridiculous during explorable mode runs - if you're sucking a lot. I think I'm going to start focusing entirely on making money soon, 'cause it'd be real nice to not have to worry about it anymore.

To be fair, mob aggro seems almost random at times. The second time we did the lovers, we had them separate for 70% of the fight when Vassar suddenly decided that he'd rather hang out with his girlfriend than with the crummy charr ranger from our party, and the fight wasn't really any different with them on top of each other. I guess they hit harder or something? They died anyway.
