    Nintendo 3DS Ambassador program

Copied pretty much straight from my 3DS:
To our loyal customers, we would like to offer you 20 downloadable games from the Nintendo eShop at no charge. These free games are available to Nintendo 3DS owners who connect (via Wi-fi) to the Nintendo eShop before 11:59 PM ESt/8:59 PM PST on August 11, 2011. You will automatically be registered as a 3DS Ambassador.

Starting September 1, Ambassadors will be able to download 10 NES Virtual Console games at no charge and before they are available to the public. These games, including Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong Jr., Balloon Fight, Ice Climber, and The Legend of Zelda, are slated to become paid downloadable games, but Ambassadors get them early for free. Later in the year, once paid versions of the games are available in the Nintendo eShop, Ambassadors can download any of the remaining games or any updated versions at no cost.

By the end of 2011, Nintendo will provide Ambassadors with 10 Game Boy Advance Virtual Console games. These include games like Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi's Island, Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Metroid Fusion, WarioWare Inc: Mega Microgame$, and Mario vs. Donkey Kong. These games will be made available EXCLUSIVELY to Ambassadors, and Nintendo currently has no plans to make these 10 games available to the general public on the Nintendo 3DS in the future.

    More details to be announced.

TL;DR, Nintendo's trying to pay back the people who bought a 3DS before the price drop.

    What do you think?
I'm iffy on the NES bit, but I do like the GBA downloads. Especially if they make them exclusive to Ambassadors.
I already connected to the eShop so I'm now one. Anyone else with one, go do the same if you didn't notice the notification earlier.
Life is simply unfair... Don't you think?

I bought today at Sears with my discount. I'll price match when it cuts in price in a week. Best of both worlds!

I don't regret my purchase one bit and appreciate the fact that Nintendo is caring for its customers despite a lot of (unjustified) animosity toward them recently.

                  Nobody cares.

On topic, I am excited about this. It's a great way to compensate for the price drops. I'm looking forward to both sets of games.

Also, seeing as there's only 5 or so NES game listed, and they say that there are remaining games, how many will that be and will all of them be accessible for the free downloads? OR certain titles?
Either way, there's a good solid chunk of gameplay hours and none requiring a 3DS or even a DS cartridge.

I believe each set contains 10 games.

"But Nintendo is going to try. The company has said people who have purchased a 3DS prior to the price drop and log on to the 3DS eShop before August 12 will receive 20 free games as part of its Ambassador Program. According to the company, 10 of the titles will come from its library of Virtual Console NES games, including Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda. The other 10 games will be Virtual Console Game Boy Advance titles, including Super Mario Advance 3 and Wario."

Yeah, but it does state that "once paid versions of the games are available in the Nintendo eShop, Ambassadors can download any of the remaining games or any updated versions at no cost." But will there be more than 10 NES games for download, and, if so, will we be able to pick and choose?

Read the quote I had edited in. There will be 10 NES games we get for free, and 10 GBA games we get for free.

Too bad I've got like, half that list. Have fun knowing you payed $250+ for rehashes, Nintendo aspies.
