great game. something I've been wondering: how does it compare to other popular JRPGs (namely the Final Fantasy franchise)? JRPG is one of a few genres I really haven't touched at all, though I would like to at some point. is SMRPG watered down, or is it the real deal?

Unlike most Square RPG's, SMRPG is an RPG that doesn't take itself too seriously. The end result is a hell of a game with tons of secrets, minigames, memorable tunes, fun characters, interesting bosses, cool maps/locations, and all while retaining the Mario-esque feel -- nothing sacrificed. It's also one of the few games where Bowser (reluctantly) joins your team in order to battle a common foe.

It's one of the few examples of a popular, successful game taken out of its comfort zone into another type of play mechanic -- and still emerging strong.

Tossup between SSBM and FF7 and SMG1 and the better Pokemom games. That's just out of the ones I've hundred percented so I'm probably skipping a few inadvertently.

My school must be pretty strange than. Probably half the people I know talk about Pokemon in some way (and most of it is serious discussion about the game).

what about Mario Kart Wii xD or Super Smash Bras Brawl, they have a lot of fun and you can play with people of the entire world

I think the Halo series is one of the greatest games of all time. It has an amazing storyline, forge/custom games, other outstanding features (Firefight, Theater) and the multiplayer has almost unlimited replayability.

I don't know if it's necessarily *the* best game i've ever played, but I just picked up the original Chrono Trigger the other day and i'm in love.

I personally had more fun with Super Smash Bros. Melee than I did with Brawl. Maybe that's just me though.

I would agree with you on that. IMO Melee felt like a faster and smoother game and thus had a stronger draw to me. Brawl did bring quite a bit of improvements, but I found myself going back and playing Melee often just because I prefer the feel of the game.

Also, I feel like I'm the only person who just never got Chrono Trigger. I've played a good chunk of the game, listened to the full soundtrack, and have seen someone play through the full game; but I just never really found it the stand out game that everyone claims it is. Please tell me someone else agrees. Let it be known that I played the game before I started noticing how popular it was.
