Of course, you can "Always Bet On Duke".

Gearbox Software announced yesterday that the release of Duke Nukem Forever is finally approaching, only to surprise viewers by placing a new release date on the long-awaited title. The new release dates for Duke Nukem Forever are now June 10th, 2011 for international buyers and June 14th, 2011 for North America.

Well, the game has to somehow live up to its name. "Forever" waiting ends as soon as the game's actually released.

This isn't all bad news since I pre-ordered the Balls of Steel edition. Gives me more time to pay it down without having to fork over a bunch of cash at once. Well, ok, it is bad news.

I read the Game Informer review of the demo. It's basically a 90s FPS with graphics for today. Duke can pump himself up with steroids to punch out enemies and crack a cold one to increase his resistance to damage at the cost of getting beer goggles, and the action is classic over-the-top Duke, with all the crudeness you'd expect.

I'm anticipating lukewarm reviews for the full game. A shame, really...if it came out when it was SUPPOSED to, I'm sure it would have been received a lot better.

I think that's pretty much all we can hope for. The dev cycle has been a death march for the past decade. Nothing good ever comes from that.

This is a great thing. Every single FPS which has come out within the past few years are so darn serious, it's getting monotonous. This will be so refreshing in a good way. This game will take nothing serious and it's the perfect time to bring something out like this. The way the games were made in the 90's were so much better than now imo.

I seem to be the only one interested for DNF eh? New trailer. About 2 minutes worth of awesomeness.

edit: dang it, youtube censored it. Hit up the DNF website to see the uncensored version.

I was getting this game but I took the money I had put aside for the Balls of Steel Edition and ended up getting Chrono Trigger SNES

I think I'll be better off

Re: Duke Nukem Forever: Delayed again

Honestly, I think I am going to absolutely love this game. I've gotten so jaded over the past decade with the types of FPS games they're been pumping out -- I want something with that 90's feel again.

I literally started out with Duke Nukem I nearly 20 years ago (all three episodes), hammered through all four episodes of DN2, then played all three episodes of DN3D in addition to the fourth episode from the Atomic Edition (on top of spending a shitload of time making levels in the Build editor).

In a way, it's like a time link for me -- because I still remember eagerly awaiting DNF back in those days, and I am pretty sure everyone lost hope of it ever being released. It's so weird to think that it's *actually going to be out* in less than a month.

And so I think I'm going to enjoy the game no matter what -- not only because I'm an oldschool Duke Nukem fan, but because I am pretty sure this game is going to be unlike anything else released over the past few years.
