I'm sure you have at least heard a little about the Xbox 360's new E74 error. If not, the E74 error code seems to be the new face of the good old-fashioned Red Ring of Death. Microsoft recently added the E74 error code to its Xbox 360 extended warranty, which originally covered the Red Ring of Death. So that's a bright spot and should give E74 victims some leverage to negotiate an amicable outcome with Microsoft.
Given that the E74 was largely unheard of before the "New Xbox Experience" system update that came out in November of 2008 (you know, the update that added those avatars nobody cares about), the two seem to be connected in some way.
