Re: Perfect World
I actually played this back in April May. Got my blademaster to 42 until I came back to Taiwan. When I got to Taiwan, I tried playing it, but the game wouldn't accept my authorized password. So I was like screw it.
But honestly, by this time though, I was playing very little of the game. Game is alright. It really is just grinding-till-you-get-borad. Thats what this game really is. Its not a dungeon mmorpg like WOW is. Most of the quests are like 2-4 lvs ahead of whatever lv you are which makes killing the monster more painful than it really is because of the lack of ratio of damage against you and the monster. There are a bunch of other retarded things that I hate about the game to like it takes forever to get from one place to another. Even with a mount, it still takes a long time. I haven't got the epic mount yet, but it didn't go to much faster. You die a lot in this game and the rez spots are so far away that it takes ages to go back to where you were. THe world is still to big for a game in the beginning where you are walking to places.
The one thing I do like about this game and the games similer to this is the set-up-ur-own-shop concept instead of the emphasis on the AH. Honestly, this may be the only reason why I played the game as long as I did.
Graphix is OK, but I dont pay to much attention to the graphics.
The game is really just OK to be honest. I think there are better games out there like rapplez. PLay PW for a while and trust me, you would want to throw ur head through a window.Last edited by operationstrawbarry; 08-2-2009, 08:46 AM.Comment

Re: Perfect World
I'm not sure about the complains about getting from one place to another are valid. I mean, if you teleport and or fly it takes little to no time to get back to where you were. It doesn't take any longer...if not less time than in WoW if your corpse spawns way the **** away from the grave or you can't even get to your corpse and you have to use a spirit healer.
The game is definitely a grind fest later on. It starts to take a really long time to level once you head up north at around level 90. You return to the desert area in the bottom left of the map at around 100...and from there out if becomes essentially impossible to level up. The exp curve goes up exponentially at that point...it's like, after every level at 100 the exp you need to level up doubles. I'm not even sure if it's possible to level up after 110 unless they've added new areas to the game, or you spend months grinding. I'm really not exaggerating - you go from taking millions to level up to billions in only a few levels. Very strange indeed.Last edited by Reach; 08-2-2009, 09:01 AM.

Re: Perfect World
Up to level 61, I have yet to grind in this game. You can do Dragon Quests instead which require trading materials to different NPCs, then taking out a miniboss at the end and you get a good amount of experience (I think it's about 10% at my level, haven't done one in a while). Getting the materials can take a little grinding, I guess, but it isn't the hours of monotony that you describe. Also, once you're in a faction, you're constantly in dungeons helping people with their FBs. Those get you a fair amount of experience (maybe 5% at my level). Also, you can level just by doing crazy stone quests. You buy mats, trade them, and boom, 10%. You can do one of them every day.
It has happened once where the monster was 3 levels higher than me in a quest. And that was at level 57 so I don't know what you're talking about. And since you can't unlock quests early, you're just making this up. There may have been a couple that were 2 levels higher, but you can always put quests on the backburner. You really don't run out of things to do as easily as you say. There are a few special quests that require you to kill minibosses that outclass you that get a pile of exp, but even then it's easy to find help. Those quests are usually unlocked by special items that you can sell for a nice wad of coin if you really don't like them. Most of the quests are like 2-4 lvs ahead of whatever lv you are which makes killing the monster more painful than it really is because of the lack of ratio of damage against you and the monster.
As Rebirth has said, teleports make it surprisingly easy to get around. Also, the price never goes up so it gets easier to afford them at later levels. There are a bunch of other retarded things that I hate about the game to like it takes forever to get from one place to another. Even with a mount, it still takes a long time. I haven't got the epic mount yet, but it didn't go to much faster
You really don't die that much if you know what you're doing. I stockpile last-ditch healing items and skills for my Blademaster. My cleric has died once when an attack-boosted archer spawned on top of me. Nothing I could do. Even when you die it shouldn't be a problem. As long as you have cleric friends that will fly to your location and resurrect you dying isn't a big deal. You die a lot in this game and the rez spots are so far away that it takes ages to go back to where you were.
This I'll agree with. When you're a newbie the world can be a vast and scary place. And when you can't fly or teleport, it can be a monotonous experience.THe world is still to big for a game in the beginning where you are walking to places.
Yeah even in the 60s and 70s it's striking how much harder it is to level up than in the 50s. I agree that it does seem just about impossible to level up once you get up there in the 90s, but really, do you even need to? You still get spirit from everything so you can level up your skills without leveling yourself. You don't really learn any new skills past level79, and most can be maxed at that point anyway. Honestly I like that you can't just level into the stratosphere. It would be more like MapleStory if you could. My feeling is that once you get up into those levels, your priorities should change. Get into faction leadership. Get into Territory War. Level up your manufacturing skills. It makes the game more community oriented when you run out of things to do on your own.The game is definitely a grind fest later on. It starts to take a really long time to level once you head up north at around level 90. You return to the desert area in the bottom left of the map at around 100...and from there out if becomes essentially impossible to level up. Re: Perfect World
It's true. You make many good points. I guess it depends on what you're looking for. There was, for example, really no point in grinding the 110 mobs in the desert. The majority of what was going on there was PvP and guilds fighting each other.
My point was just that there is a significant amount of grinding later on to reach the final areas in comparison to the rest of the game. Even if you're not grinding, let's just say that it takes a *very long time* to level up. But certainly, there are many things to do other than grind away for exp. I still enjoyed the game.

Re: Perfect World
The complaints that Im talking about are all what I experienced Chaz. The mats that you speak is still things you have to grind over and over again. I did much of the kill-this-many-of-this-kind-of-creature quests where a lot of the mobs are over ur lv by a couple of numbers at least. From what I experienced, if you were a lv 42 (time I quit) I was going after mobs that were lv 43-45. You could grind the lower creatures, but by this time, EXP gains was in the 0.01 and thats just annoying.
Teleport is faster, but you had to pay a decent amount for them. If you were doing quests, the amount of compensation money from rewards vs teleport cost is bad. Im guessing in a sense if you were just trigger happy grinding the entire time and making money from what you get from the mobs and selling them in ur own shop, it might be worth it. Unfortunatly there, even that doesn't seem all that worth it. Then again, you had to had a decent amount to sell and ur things had to sell. Even with spirit healing, like WOW, there was a penalty. Now I shouldn't say much because I wasn't at the lv or had the money to even get an epic mount where this complaint would of been null and void. But I was lv 42.
The game was decently fun to me. Dont get me wrong. After WOW, I was searching for a game that was just about grinding and not to much group oriented. But grinding mobs 2-3 lv mobs ahead of you while spamming away potions and spending a lot of the profits on Mana and healing potions, isn't what I had in mind. Other than that, it would of been something that I was looking for. More and more as I get further in the game, there were so many minor details that I hated about the game that it made me want to jump in front of a moving bus. I guess the fact that the game wont authorize my PW and username anymore, the one that I have been using for a month was a cue that I should quit.
WOW is more of a social experience than a raiding experience. You need to be friends with you're guild and you need to be able to make friends with new people. By doing that, you can raid better or be in better groups for raids. I guess you can throw all that **** away and just pug, but to those that understand WOW and played it, you know what usually happens in pugs. Just an fyi if anyone cares.Last edited by operationstrawbarry; 08-2-2009, 01:39 PM.Comment

Bump. Still looking for other FFR'ers who play this game. Chazze, my now lvl77 Blademaster is on staff for a faction that does some territory warring if you're interested.

Re: Perfect World
Aion is a p2p game so I guess that's out of the question for you. But that gameplay/graphics are quite amazing, you might actually want to try it before you knock it (same goes for global agenda).
As for PW: I've got a grudge against the game. I don't play it anymore but when I did, I played on a private server. The leveling of this game just takes for ****ing ever. I'm not complaining that it's as bad as Maple, but honestly it gets quite boring until the 100+ monsters.
Not to mention the whole, "hey I think it'll be a great idea to just try and render the graphics of a huge ****ing map with hundreads of people on it because we want to be no oh what lag? don't even worry about that just turn your settings to the lowest possible visual display and don't worry about users complaining we gave them the ability to fly at lvl 1!"Originally posted by t-rogdori finally got a weed hookup again and i texted the dude asking where to meet him tomorrow and the dude just said "out west"

Re: Perfect World
I'm not knocking any specific game. I'm sure Aion is a fantastic game, but I'm not going to play it because it charges you a monthly fee.
I have no trouble running PW on max settings.Back to "Back to Earth"

Re: Perfect World
Why does it go against your morals (or fabric of being)? Take WoW for an example. It takes money to maintain those servers and run, not to mention fund the teams working on various content to expand the game. I can understand not wanting to pay a monthly fee but morally, I see no problem with it.Comment

Re: Perfect World
Expansions existed before MMOs. Nobody else required monthly payments. Games that required servers to run existed before MMOs. Nobody else required monthly payments. I'm aware of the cost associated with developing and maintaining games. I have no problem with paying for expansions as they come but charging me every month to play the same game forever is wrong.
Don't get me wrong, Blizzard has a hell of a racket because rich spoiled children can always get their parents to keep paying for them. It's good that they can exploit people like that. People willing to pay that money don't deserve to keep their money.
I, on the other hand, refuse to pay for a product after I leave the store. If they want my business then they need a different business model.
PS I don't shop at WalMart because of my issues with their control of the supply chain. I am a very principled (stubborn) person when it comes to economics.Back to "Back to Earth"
