Gears of war 2, are chainsaws legit or not?

So im playing Gears of War 2 with a buddy of mine and hes complaining that someone chainsawed him. He claims that it isnt a legit kill and that it is a noobish thing. Though it is a noobish thing, wouldnt it still be a legit kill? Its put into the game and it is not a hack so there for it is legit am i right? We are arguing about it so i decided to post this here for opinions to settle it. I am asking not the fact that its cheap but the fact that it is a real legit kill. No matter if its nooby or not. He calls it not legit just because it isnt fully fair, but yet he has the same ability of using it as everyone else but chooses not too...

Opinions please.

gay random thread but its a perfectly okay thing to do, I doubt he would be behind an enemy and be like "nah I won't chainsaw it's nooby"

Tell your friend he's stupid.
They are legit and chainsaws are powerful BUT the bad thing is you gotta be close ranged. It's not our fault he cries over that cause he lets his enemy get close to him.

If he can't beat the chainsaw, then he's a noob himself, though he is technically right (anybody who's even decent at the game will never use chainsaw when playing competitively, period). If you're asking if it's "legit", then it obviously is, as it was put into the game for a reason...they aren't cheap or broken or anything.

I always find it funny when people complain about things that were put in the game on purpose. How can something the developers put in the game and put thought into not be legit. It's not like they accidentally spend hundreds of hours programing it in just for it to be unfair. This applies to just about every game.

That's like saying is getting sniped isn't legit. Of course it is, long range has it's defensive perks and requires a small amount of skill to pull off and close range has it's offensive perks and requires a bit of skill to pull off also. Both can lead to an instant kill because they require a bit more skill then middle range combat.

But as After Dawn said, competitive players never really use the chainsaw unless they know for a 100% certainty that they will pull off the kill.

gears of war is an okay game. It is obviously not a hack. if you are killed shut up and kill them yourselves
