            And now something to contribute to the thread..

            Warcraft 3 - The Frozen Throne. Go to custom games on battle.net, you'll be playing all the custom maps for hours. There's Tower Defense games (my favourite) where you build towers and upgrade them to fend off the creeps, this is where TD STARTED people. There's DotA which I don't paticularly like. There's Undead Assault II and Night of the Dead Aftermath which are zombie survival games. There are literally tons.

                    Elder Scrolls: Oblivion. I don't care what anyone says.. that game had me hooked for weeks. Until I beat it.
