Are there really no epic tanking chests (plate) before Naxx10?

I'm talking about drops from bosses. I know I can save up 80 emblems for T7 but I'd rather not do that if I don't have to.

Nope. I think the best before Naxx 10 is a blue from Wyrmcrest Rep.

You gotta raid to get epics brah. There aren't a lot of badge rewards/heroic drops for tanks.

          There really aren't.

Breastplate of Solemn Council from Wyrmrest Quartermaster
Ziggurat Imprinted Chestguard from Heroic DTK
          Sun-Emblazoned Chestplate from Heroic Gundrak

Well I have a couple epic plate pieces from heroics, but I was having some trouble finding a plate piece that was better than that blue drop from heroic Drak'Tharon. I'm just trying to put together a decent set so I'm not a liability in raids.

I read a bunch of crap on EJ last night that said a lot about how the biggest difference between gearing for avoidance vs. gearing for mitigation is personal preference. Is one really better than the other?

If you assume getting hit for 2000 damage a swing every swing, 1% avoidance over 100 attacks gets you 198,000 damage incoming.

I don't know how you can gear for mitigation unless you just wanna get a really high block value/rating and put on armor enchants. Which is pretty silly.

                  Avoidance has diminishing returns brah.

I said 1% avoidance, not 1% avoidance before diminishing returns.

Not like I said "With X% dodge rating, and Y% parry rating"

                    1%==1%

In tank theorycrafting, stamina also counts as a form of mitigation because it increases your overall damage-taking potential.

Two people in the same gear leaving them at 540 defense before gemming/enchanting tend to either gem for more avoidance via dodge/parry/defense or for more mitigation via stamina/blockV/blockR

I'm not going to bother mathing out a direct equality in the formula, but you will get tanks with say, 50% straight avoidance and 35,000hp or something like 60% straight avoidance and 30,000hp (Or whatever values make the basic "Here's what happens if 100 attacks at 2000 damage come at me, so the total damage smashing my face remains equal)

Stamina + armor make up effective health.

Dodge + parry + chance to be missed make up avoidance.

Ahh.... being a DPSer is so easy. Just cap Hit and then stack spellpower and you win.

Ideally I'm supposed to grab more crit and haste and stuff but who cares. In my rotation, Haste is important at certain values and becomes increasingly less important the further away from those values you get. I have 11% haste and it's still just as unimportant as it was when I had 8% haste. As for crit, I have a guaranteed crit skill that makes me more likely to crit more and more (in addition to making my skills cost next to nothing).

As for my general complaints, I still haven't seen gear for my spec show up in Ulduar. So far I've seen one properly itemized weapon, and it's a dagger, which means I'm rolling against every other spellcaster for it. Oh and it only drops from Yogg25.

A 10-man group in Europe got to Algalon (doing hard mode on every fight along the way).

He despawns after an hour, so you only get one hour a day to try him (aka wipe to him repeatedly).

No more whining about easy raids from the hardcore, I assume?

Edit: Not one hour a day. One hour a WEEK.
