but does anyone remember a treasure hunt game on a mountain with 3 levels and presents?/ whats the name?
The name of the game is Treasure Mountain. I don't know if my random shouting made that clear to anyone, so there's some clarification.
While I'm here, has anyone ever heard of Treasure Mountain?
I used to play it ALL THE TIME in kiddie school. It took 3 years worth of computer lab time, but I FINALLY finished it in 5th grade. It was a success of legendary magnitude amongst the students.
Space Quest was an old-school EGA game that used the AGD interface (type what you want to do) created by Sierra in the (correct me if I'm wrong) late 80s. It was about a space janitor named Roger Wilco, whose ship is taken over by these aliens with lasers. You have to escape the ship and save the universe. It was quite a hilarious game with numerous ways to die, each funnier than the last. They remade it in, I believe, 1990 with an advanced point and click interface and VGA graphics. There was also 6 other games as well as a fan creation that explains te time in between Space Quest 3 & 4 called The Lost Chapter.
Monkey Island is made by LucasArts, which you probably already know
They made a few awexome games too (including Monkey Island) such as Sam and Max and Day of the Tentacle and some other games that I can't remember.
I've played it. There were thousands of side-scroller shooters back in the day. Another one that I can remember know is Hocus Pocus that was a pretty fun game.
DOOM 3 is coming out real soon, I hope it'll be as good as the first few.
I also had Commander Keen. I beat it but hated the ending...it's like, "Buy the next one Ohsnap!".
What about all those learning games and such? Some of them were actually fun. I cannot even remember the names, but one involved running around and taking part in spelling bees and such, and another involved collecting bunches of items and taking them to the top of this really big tower...and when you do it adds one to your library and you fall all the way down to start over again. That's really vague...
There was also this Concentration-like game where after removing all the pieces you had to guess what the background message was saying. It was one of those where there's pictures and plus signs to add the words the pictures made together... Vagueness again. This is impossible to put into words.
Terminal Velocity... ah that was one of my favs, it was like a flight sim but it was way in the future. I used to run Warcraft 2 in DOS, does that count? I also loved Descent, it had some great fun in a rather odd package. Descent was truly ahead of its time. But my ultimate favorites are the first two Ultimas for the NES also kicked ass no matter where they were. The first was Exodus and the second was Quest of the Avatar. They were great on the NES but were also good DOS games as well. As a matter of fact im trying to make a sequel to Quest of the Avatar myself. Tenatively titled The Path of the Avatar, it will follow the eight charachters right after the original as they continue to try and vanquish all evil from Britannia. Excuse the off topic rant but I loved that game and really want to make my sequel in a hurry.
