"Go" is not a video game, if what you mean is what I think it is. Never heard of it being called Onegaishimasu or whatever.

Isn't Onegaishimasu just a really polite way to say "please"? So I guess you need the context of actually being in front of a Go table for it to mean "will you play with me?"postcount += 1

It's just sportsmanship. It's the equivalence of shaking hands before and after a match.
Americans really shouldn't do it unless they're playing in Japan though, else you just look pretentious.Comment
