In a study involving 12 surgeons and 21 surgical residents, video game skill was correlated with laparoscopic surgery skill as assessed during a simulated surgery skills course, according to a report in the February issue of Archives of Surgery, one of the JAMA/Archives journals.

There is your job in life, no need to stop playing

Don't leave the video game world completely. Yes, video games have done all those things to me, but I feal like it's worth it, cause I got school and I learn alot and I am losing weight and whatnot. Video Games shouldn't take up too much of your life, but a small portion. Video games are one of the best timewasters cause they can be so fun.

Currently making DDR Gameboy stepfiles. So far I have made:
      Butterfly 8-bit.

You need to distribute your time so that you can do everything for a decent amount of time. Don't deprive yourself completely of games, yet try to stay in your home for less than half a day, when you can.

Video games took all of my time and have given me nothing. The OP describes it quite accurately. Now I'm trying to find interesting activities to occupy the time I would spend playing video games. Yes they are and that's what's bad about them. Maybe I should go play a sport, read a book or do my homework... nah I'll just spend 6 hours a day pressing buttons with minimal brain activity. Take a break? **** no, I could be leveling my character during this time.

Edit: Ok I wouldn't say destroyed, but really, playing video games causes many bad long-term effects.
Sorry that you had to go thru the same as I, I actually joined Football yesterday and Judo last week, there is something to work on :]

          @MagicCarpetRide; Haha xD

@OmegaMetroid; Lol, sucks I already screwed up in high school from playing vids, can't even become a surgeon xD

@SaguchiTheCat; I'm not leaving completely, only gonna play small games on my free time..like FFR/arcade games

@SnS; True, working on it..it all seems like one big mess for now

that's you, i play a lot of videogames, my GPA is 4.0 i am in the soccer team and i read all of the harry potter/narnia/ john grishman books and i have a big group of close friends. yes videogames are addictive, so it's everything you like to do, the only thing you need it's not completely destroy it or avoid it because that makes it even worse..... what you have to do it's to learn to control yourself.... in just one year my grades changed from D/C to B/A in honors classes... autocontrol its the key of everything

Don't blame video games blame yourself. It was your choice, I hate when video games are portrayed as the ones to blame for negative results. It's completely wrong.

You're gonna fail if you continue playing FFR. You're going to play FFR more and more often as you crave games. Eventually, you'll think it's ok to play similar games like SM, DDR, and move on to stuff like Guitar Hero, etc. You'll then think it's ok to play any game with decent music on it, leading to other random games. You'll realize how much you failed and end up returning to the gaming life. [/prophecy]

FFR is the only game you're allowed to play when you have 9 million assignments due within 3 days.
                        And get away with it.

there's a difference cigs have a chemical that makes them addictive, videogames just are fun.

besides videogames helped me a lot.... i got interested in english thanks to them and guess what? i moved to the United Estates.

also some kind of videogames (rpgs and puzzle games like zelda) make you smarter, and some videogames have a lot of script that you can read like if they are a book (fire emblem) they are not negative, they are positive but of course like everything in life (except breathing) a lot of it can ruin you

zidart; Yes, but every goal of a video game designer is to make the game addicting as possible, you know people killed themself because of Tetris? They started failing and then killed themself. Damn commies ,

P.S, I am a russian so I can say commie xD

I really don't like going else much. Video games give me a social life. I know that sounds sad, but I don't really care.
