i think halo 3 is the only game that could make me buy a 360, i don't know i'll watch the reviews or play it at my girlfriend's house to see if it's as good as people say it is.

as being overrated well heck every game i love is overrated so i might like this one.

well now i ask (and i ask this because i'm of that 99.9% who don't know anything about halo 1 2 and 3) what makes halo different from other FPS?

i mean metroid is different because is more puzzle-based and is not just about shooting (in fact is called a FPA)

bioshock also has the special powers the main character has (i forgot the name of those powers) and the ability to select the ending of the game.

well what makes halo different?

0.1% of the world OWNS Halo 2.

My estimates are 0.2% or 0.3% know what the Halo franchise is one way or another. That's nearly 30,000,000 people.

I was referring to the 99.9% percentage who 'doesn't' know what Halo is, kiddo. I'm pretty sure the number is greater because Halo is known and played in various countries, not just in North America.

Also, don't think you're alone in thinking that it's overrated, I'm pretty sure there are people out there who think it is, but that's their tastes. The majority just happens to enjoy 'fake games' I guess, like Halo.

He's entitled to his opinion that it's overrated, I stated my own opinion. I only picked at his fallacies because they were not backed by any factual data and people around here are prone to believe anything anyone with an intelligent internet voice says.

anyways this isn't critical thinking and I've spoken with enough people who think the game is overrated in their opinion, and it's usually because they think it doesn't really add anything new to the genre. So? I play it because it's just sick fun, and it's a nice competitive game that many people, strangers and friends both, like to play.

Now personally I think the original Half-Life is the best FPS of all time, but Halo 3 is definitely a contender...Just have to wait and see what it brings to the online table.



EDIT: Oh and by the way, You know what Bioshock reminds me of? This game. Like WoW, I don't think Halo 3 really adds much anything new to the genre rather than just...Well, do whatever it does, really good.

i know more people that love halo than people who hate halo so i think it's not really overrated, sorry but i think just 0.01% is too low for a game with this kind of hype

I cannot believe how many times you are going to misinterpret what I say.

My numbers aren't wrong and they aren't fallacies. The entire point was to try to explain that Halo isn't life because if it were, more people would know about it or care about it.

Yes, way to go showing African natives who don't know what Halo is. You're also leaving out soccer moms living in New York City, gamers in Tokyo, MMO freaks in Korea, and literally billions of other people. But go ahead and stereotype the Africans, cuz that's really cool you know.

I can't understand why you think it matters that gamers know what Halo is. Yes, I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a gamer in America who doesn't know what Halo is. That still doesn't explain why only 9 million people own Halo worldwide. Think about it. The PS2 has sold over 110 million units. That means there are at least 110 million gamers in the world. 9 million out of 110 million is pathetic. What's worse is that not all gamers even own a PS2 (I didn't until just recently).

Hooray! 9 million people bought Halo 2 and it's the most popular game on the Xbox! That's FANTASTIC. You know how many people bought Super Mario Bros.? 40 million. You know how many people know who Mario is? I'd say 1-2 BILLION.

Let's keep going, shall we? Tetris -- 33 million. Pokemon (GB) -- 28 million (GBC) - 15 million (GBA) -- 30 million (DS) 10 million. Even Nintendogs has sold more units than Halo 1 and 2 COMBINED. The GTAs on PS2 sold 36 million units together.

Halo 2 ranks 18th on the best-selling non-bundled console games list. 18th. There are 17 more popular games than Halo 2. The original Halo isn't even ranked and that game was way better than Halo 2. Why did Halo 2 sell better? I wish I knew. Where else in history does a sequel sell better than its predecessor? Oh, right, it's when the game is designed solely for multiplayer so you can pay $50 a year just to teabag your little 12-year old friends playing an M-rated game.

Halo 2 is just as bad as Counter Strike in the large scale of things. There are a bunch of fanboys who refuse to play any other game despite the fact that Counter Strike is incredibly pathetic. You're the exact same way. There are other FPSes out there. Better ones. You can play them online against other people and have lots of fun. But you continue to return to Halo time and time again. I'll never understand it.

Go buy Unreal Tournament 2004. You can get it for $5 now. Then you'll understand what a multiplayer-based FPS should be like.

i can't argue with squeek numbers this time, (i read gameinformers most of those numbers are right). but well i guess is not a bad game either.
